DAVID GI-IRISTEN, OF ANSELMO, NEBRASKA.
BATH-TUB.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented July 22, 1913.
Application filed August 6, 1912. Serial No. 713,626.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, DAVID CHRISTEN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Anselmo, in the county of Custer and State of Nebraska, have invented new and useful Improvements in Bath-Tubs, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to bath tubs.
The object of my invention is to provide a rocking bath tub having means to prevent the splashing of water during the rocking action.
A further object of the invention is to provide a device of this kind having a curved bottom and having suitable rockers secured thereto.
The preferred embodiment of my invention is hereinafter described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
In these drawings :-Figure 1 is a side view in elevation. Fig. 2 is an inverted. plan view, and Fig. 3 is a detail perspective view of a portion of one of the rocker members.
Referring to the drawings, the tub comprises sides 1 which rise from a curved or rounded bottom 2. The bottom 2 at 3 is extended upwardly to provide a suitable rest for the back of the person bathing, and the opposite end 4.- is somewhat lower. The water within the tub is shown in dotted lines. Suitable rocker members 5 which may be formed from a piece of sheet metal, as shown, and which are bent into flanges 6 and a rocker portion 7, are secured in any suitable manner to the tub as by means of rivets 8 passing through the tub and flanges 6. The upper edges of the bottom and sides of the tub are preferably rounded or beaded at 9 to form smooth rests for the arms. Adjacent the front or portion 4 of the tub at the top thereof, is secured in any suitable manner a plate or board such as 10. When the tub is rocking and the water moving forward the front or portion 4 of the tub is prevented from overflowing or splashing, by means of the board or plate 10.
The tub may be made of any suitable ma: terial desired, such as plain metal or enamel ware.
Changes within the spirit and scope of the appended claim may be made.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is:-
In combination with a rocking tub adapted to contain a liquid, said tub having a curved back-rest portion, an arm rest edge formed by beading the upper edges of side walls thereof, a plate member above the liquid connecting said walls designed to prevent splashing of the liquid and being located at the end of the tub opposite to the back-rest, longitudinally curved rocking members for the tub, said members each comprising a central rocker portion and side flanges extending therefrom, and attaching members passing through said flanges and said tub, said flanges thereby providing means to brace the rocker portions, and means through which the fastening members may be passed.
DAVID CHRISTEN.
