Specification of Letters Patent.
. Application filed November l0, 1910. Serial No. 591,667.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known thatI, FRED I-IUTCHEN'S, a citizen of the United States,` residing at Valton, in the county of Sauk, State of Nisconsin, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Oil- Stove Attachments; and I do hereby declare the following to bea full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to improvements in stoves andthe object of the same is to provide a warming oven for kerosene oil stoves having communication by'a heat conducting pipe with one of the burners of the stove.
. Another object of the invention is to provide a stove of this,l type with a removable grate adapted for use in connection with cereals and other foods requiring a lslow tire and comprising'upper and lower Ine-4 tallic grate sections and an intermediate section of asbestos or like heat insulating With the above and other objects in view the inventionconsists in certain const-ructions, combinations and arrangements of parts, clearly described in the following specification and clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of a stove provided with the improved warming oven with' a portion of the stove broken awayA to show the heat conducting pipe. Fig. 2 is a detail plan view of the improved grate. Fig. 3 is a cross sectional view dthereof. Fig. 1 is a plan view of an upper metallic grate section. Fig. 5 isa similar view of an intermediate asbestos section Fig. 6 is a similar view of a lower metallic grate section. i
Referring to the accompanying drawings illustrating the preferred embodiment of the invention 5 denotes astove having openings in the top thereof which are covered by gratos 6. Beneath the openings covered by the gratos 6 oil burners are arranged, two of said burners beingshownas indicated by4 the numeral 7. The heat conductingl pipe 8 communicates at one end with a warming oven 9 mounted on the stove 5 and has its other end disposed over a portion ofthe burner 7 and extended in a-horiiontal position therefrom so that a portion of the heat generated by said burner when the same is in operation will be conducted to the warming'oven 9. By means of this arrangement an ordinary'oil stove may be rovided with an oven for keeping food or dishes warm.
In Figs. 2 to 6 inclusive, I have illustrated a construction of the improved grate, which comprises an upper metallic grate section 10, alower metallic grate section 11 and an intermediate asbestos section-'12 which is secured to the upper and lower metallic grate sections 10 and 11 by means of rivets or screws 13. The intermediate 'asbestos section 12 which may be of any other suitable heat insulating material, is provided with openings 14 through which the heat may pass and said section is arranged for rotation between the upper and lower Inetallic grate sectionsland in such a way that the openings may be partly closed or wholly closed by rotating saidsection. In the latter construction, slots l5 are provided for engagement by the fastening rivets or screws 18 so as to hold the asbestos section and permit sliding movement thereof.
By means of the improved grate-the heat of any one of the burners of a stove may be considerably' reduced' so asv to provide a slow lire for cooking cereals and like foods which arev spoiled by rapid cooking.
The improved warming oven can be used with gasolene stoves as well as kerosene stoves.
What is claimed is The combination with an `pil` stove coinprising a casing having openings in its top Patented J une 10. 1913.
portion and burners vertically mounted within the casing; of rates lmounted in openings in the top of t e casing over the burners and spaced `from the latter, each of said grates comprising circular upper and lower plates of metal having radial openings therethrough and -an intermediate scction of asbestos slidablyl engaged between `said plates and provided with openings adapted to be moved into and out of registry with the openings in the plat-es.
In testimony whereof, I affix my signature, in presence of two witnesses.
