Description

A. A. GUSHMAN.
PAPER HANGING DEVICE.
APPLICATION FILED mm. 26, 1912.

"UNITED AMOS A. GUSI'IMAN, 0F BUTLER, OHIO.
PAPER-HANGING DEVICE.
Application filed December 26, 1912.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, Amos A. CUS'IIMIAN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Butler, in the county oi Richland and Stale of Ohio, have invented certain new and use- :Eul Improvements in Paper-Hanging .l)evices, off which the following is a speciliciv tion.
This invention relates to improvements in paper hanging devices and has for its object to provide a device of this nature which will facilitate the papering of ceilings.
A still further object of the invention resides in the provision of a paper hanging device which will do away with the use oi? scaffolding and by means of which a person may easily and quickly paper a ceiling without assistance.
The invention also aims to generally im prove devices of this nature to render them more simple, durable, and commercially desirable.
WVith these and other objects in view, as will become more apparent as the description proceeds, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination, and arrangement of parts, as will be hereinafter described and claimed.
For a complete understanding of my invention, reference is to be had to the follow ing description, and accompanying drawings, in which,
Figure 1 is a side elevation of my invention, showing the same supporting a strip of paper, Fig. 2 is a top plan view, and, Fig. 3 is an edge elevation.
Referring in detail to the drawings by numerals, 1 and 2 designate parallel bars across the upper edges of which are secured a plurality of cross pieces 3, said cross pieces being arranged in parallel spaced relationship and positioned within notches formed in said bars. The bars 2 cooperate with the cross pieces 3 to form the head of my device Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 3, 1913.
Serial No. 738,685.
The outer ends of. the arms 4tand 5 are r crossed, as clearly shown in Fig. 1, and se cared to each other by means of a bolt 8 and nut 5).
In using my improved paper hanging device, a strip of paper 10 is first covered upon one side with paste and then placed upon the head of my device and raised to the ceiling, against which it is pressed by means of a long handled brush. The relatively long length of the head piece makes it a very easy matter to properly match the various strips ol paper.
it is to be understood that I do not wish to be limited to the exact construction oil. head piece nor to any particular dimensions, nor do I wish to be limited to the specific construction of handles or arms herein shown and described.
l laving thus described my invention, what I claim is A paper hanging device comprising a pair oi parallel bars, a plurality of parallel cross pieces secured within notches formed in the upper edges of said bars, the cross pieces extending a considerable distance beyond the outer sides oi the parallel bars, a pair ol. converging arms, means for securing the inner end of each arm to both parallel bars, and means for connecting the outer ends of said arms to each other, the arms forming hand lcs whereby the head may be supported In testimony whereof I allix my signature in presence o'l. two witnesses.
