Description

J. WICHERS.
SECURING DEVICE FOR WINDOWS. AYP'LIOATION FILED SEPTA, 1912.

W1 X22655 es: J
llNlTEiD STATES JOHANNES WICHERS, OF HAMBURG, GERMANY.
SECURING DEVICE FOR WINDOWS.
Application filed September 4, 1912.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHANNES Wrorrnns, a subject of the German Emperor, and resident of Hamburg, Germany have invented new and useful Improvements in Securing Devices for WVindows, of which the following is a specification.
During ventilating of rooms having windows with Spanish sash bolts the wings of the windows are often brought in a half closed position which is attained and secured by the horizontalturnable handle or lever, lying in its hook on the other wing. In this half closed position of the wings the same are often shaken by the wind causing great noise.
The invent-ion relates to a device which hinders this movement of the wings caused by the wind and at the same time prevents little children from opening the window.
In the drawing a form of construction is shown in Figure 1 in a front view of the middle part of the half closed window wings, the wings being kept diverged or spread by means of a wooden block. Fig. 2 represents a horizontal cross section through the window wings with a top view upon the device which is suspended from the handle or lever of the Spanish sash bolt. The Figs. 3 and 4t show a side view and a top View of the whole device before its attachment to the lever or handle.
The two wings a of the window are sepa- Speoification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 3, 1913.
Serial No. 718,551.
rated by means of the block (Z made of wood or the like. This block has preferably upon its opposite side grooves for the insertion of blades 6 of any desired thickness. The block (Z possesses an elastic hook f which can be hung upon the lever b and handle it of the sash. A chain g is afiixed at its one end to the block (Z and for securing the position of the block this chain is wound around the lever hook a and the lever b and secured on a hook 7? upon the hook f. Children cannot remove this chain and thus cannot open the window. The block can also possess another elastic hook f of other dimensions on the opposite side.
I claim:
Securing device for half opened windows with Spanish sash comprising in combination a block (Z inserted between the wings of the half opened window, an elastic hook (f) afiixed to said block and surrounding the lever (b) of the said Spanish sash, a chain (g) aflixed to said elastic hook said chain wound around the lever (b) and hook (a) of said Spanish sash and means for affixing the free end of said chain to the elastic hook, (f) means for inserting plates (6) of different sizes in grooves of said block.
