IMPROVED PADDING FOR HARNESS.
Specification forming part of' Leiters Patent N0. 106,32 i dated August 16, 1h70.
T0 all whom, it may concern.:
Be it known that We, JAMES CORMAC and ALEXANDER S'roBBs, of the village of Mecklenburg, Schuyler county, New York` haveinvented an Improved Harness-Pad, of which the following is a specification.
Our object is'to make of rubber, or of guttapercha and rubber, a pad light and elastic, and the nature of our invention will be apparent as we describe it.
Figure 1 is a view of one-half of a light carriage-saddle skirt with our pad attached. Fig. 2 is a View of the cellular internal structure of our pad, and Fig. 3, a View of the under side of our pad.
In Fig. l, A is the rubber pad, showing on all sides outside of the skirt-piece C. To the skirt C is attached the billet B, and also the belly-band billet D.
In Fig. 2 the edge E of the shell of the pad A is seen, and the reticulated bars or net-Work E, which bars rest on the skirt G, and are fast to the shell H of thepad. XVe makethis Work of bars as figured, and also of a series of round, square, or oblong-shaped studs, extending from the shell H to the skirt, or other obj ect or part ofthe harness against which they rest.
In Fig. 3 the under side of our pad is seen, marked by lines of real or false stitching, G, and bythe ornamental markings I.
W'e describe no fastening of the pad to the skirt, as we design to use either stitches or cloth or leather covers to hold the pad fast toV l.
