Preferably, the supporting legs are T-shape in transverse section, and may be either an integral T-section or composed of two angle members riveted together as shown; and said'legs l3-are connected by crossed tie members -l& as .shown in Fig. 6.: However, said legs 13 may be connected by a horizontal connecting member and diagonal corner braces as provided on the or. body frame. The outer end portion of the, outer supplemental frame 12 is supported on .legs 15 which are connected by diagonal braces 16 to the side rails 12. "The legs 15 are also connected by a transverse horizontal member 17 and diagonal braces 18 in a manner similar to the main or body frame construction. The opposite upper corners of the legs 13 are rounded, as are also the lower meeting corners of'the side rails 9 and 12. By this arrangement, a rule joint is provided and the legs 13 automatically straighten into 'a vertical position when the device isopened as a bed, as shown in Fig.

spring bottom comprising transverse slats 20 which are perforated and connected by longitudinal rows of links 21. The opposite ends of the respective slats are connected by springs 22 to the side rails of the main and supplemental frame sections.
By the construction and arrangement shown, the frame structure is light and rigid, and the device may be readily folded and unfolded without changing the position of the main or body frame; and when closed as a lounge or sofa, it may be covered With a suitable loose covering.
Obviously, the construction admits of considerable modification without departing from my invention. Therefore, I do not wish to be limited to the specific construction and arrangement shown.
What I claim is:
l. A sofabedstead including a base section having side frames comprising leg members, fixed upper and lower horizontalrails and transverse connecting members; an outer folding section comprising leg members. transverse connecting members and side rails; a folding supporting frame comprising leg members to which the end portions of the side rails of said outer section are pivoted, and transverse connecting members; and an intermediate folding section comprising side rails pivoted at one end to the respective leg members of said supporting frame so as to abut against the ends of the side rails of said outer section, the ends of said leg members bearing against the side rails of both of said two folding sections when in open position, the side rails of said intermediate section having their opposite ends extended at an angle and pivoted to the 7 side frames of said base section between the upper and lower horizontal rails thereof so that the side rails of the two folding sections are supported the one upon the other throughout, on the upper horizontal side rails of said base section when in closed posi-- t-ion and lie in the same horizontal plane with the lower side rails of said base sect-ion when in open position. i
2. In a sofa-bedstead, a pivotally supported reversible folding section having side rails, a cooperating folding section having side rails, and a transverse folding supporting framehaving leg members at its ends, the meeting end portions of the side rails of said folding sections being pivoted to the leg members of said supporting frame on opposite sides of the middle thereof so that the ends of said rails abut and the ends of said leg members abut against the respective rails of both of said sections when in open position, whereby said supporting frame moves to support-ing position as said cooperating folding sections are moved to open position and folds between said sections when they are moved to closed position.
Signed at St. Louis, Missouri, this 22nd day of September, 1910.
