Description

' J. CRAWFORD. VESSEL FOR DISPENSING LIQUIDS.
APPLICATION IILBD MAB. 7, 1913- Patented May 13; 1913'.
' oHN cmwronnor nocnns'rnn, NEW YORK.
:Application filed March 7, 1913. Serial No. 752,657
I To aZZ 207mm it may concern:
it known that 1,- JOHN Cniuvroun, a citizen of the UnitedStates, residing at Rochester, in the county of Monroe and "State of New York, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Vessels for Dispensing Liquids; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and
exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying'drawings, form--' mg .partof this specification,=and 'to' the figures and letters thereon:
This invention relates to improvements in devices for dispensing liquids, and has for its object to provide a vessel for delivering liquid soap in small quantities at-a time into the hands, thereby avoiding waste, the device being especially designed for use in. public lavatories.
f To'these ends the invention consists in of reference marked certain: novel details of construction and" combinations and arrangements'of parts, all
as will be now described and-the particular features of novelty pointed-out in the appended claims.
In the accompanying drawings, showing the preferred embodiment of the invention,-Figure 1 is a perspective view of the device embodying the-present invention 5' 2 is ,a sectional view of the vessel, showing in dotted lines the position when delivering the liquid; Fig. 3 is a top plan view; Fig. 4 is a detail view of the vessel in top .plan, broken away with the bracket re- 'moved; Fig. 5 isa detail view of a portion of the bracket; Fig, 6 i's-a sectional view showing a modification ;-and Fig. 7' is a top plan view broken away of the vessel illustrated in Fig. 6. p
Similar letters of reference in the several i figures indicate the same parts.
Referring to the drawings, the letter A indicates a vessel of any suitable or de- 45 referably glass. At the top the vessel is' shed shape and formed of any material,
formed with preferably a-short neck unextension a-preferably circular, across which there is apartition 11' having a central transverse slot or opening a. The vessel A is suspended from afixedbracket or other support B, above the center of gravity, so as' to be tilted or swungflmd in the present instance this is accomplished by forming the bracket arm with a cross-piece b circular .in cross section and'having a bore b extend- Specification of Letters Patent.

ing theret-hrough. Thiscross piece is of Such size as to fill the transverse opening or I slot a a pin 6 passing through the bore in the cross piece 6' and taking a bearing at each end in openings c n in the neck '1, whereby the vessel may bctilted or swung, as will bereadily understood.
Secured or formed integral witl the cross piece or bar 6 and forming'practically anextension thereof, is an arm-'or extension 1:
projecting down into the vessel A,-this. ar|n constituting a fixed stop against whichthc v esselwill strike, thus limiting its-forward movement, and holding" the vessel in, 'up-" right position, as shown-clearly in Fig. 2.
The extension or arm 11 is formed with'a substantlallyright angle bend b, and atits end is formed with an enlargement or head 6 constituting'a plungerfor ejecting the liquid, as will be explained. In. the front wall of the vessel A abovethe' filling line;
is'formed a channel or passage a opposite the arm-b the wall being preferably thick- (mad at this-point, and said channel a? being inclined. downwardly and leading .into the interior of the vessel at suchan angle that the head or enlargement b on thearm b will enter said channel When'the vessel is tilted, as shown in Fg. 2. Fitted inthe outer end of the (ban el a is a nozzle (1 having asmall-opening through which the "liquid will be forced by the plunger, as Will be readily understood.
In use the vessel is swun backward, as shownv in dotted lines in ig. 2, thereb causing'the plunger head to enter the chin? nel (fend force a small quantity-ofth liqu'id contents of the vessel through the i:
until a sufiicient'quanti'ty'of the liquid has nozzle a. Thisoperation may be continuedbeen delivered; After using, the vesselwill automatically resume its normal position, andto insure this the .wall of thevessel may be thickened as at a'Q bem stopped in its.
forward movemenextenslon b -In the modified 'on struction, illustrated in Fig.6,' the vessel issuspended from the bracket 'or supportas in the previously described construction. In this construction the'extension d, is bent as at form aistop. for limiting the forward. of the ves li'and provided with 9. forwardly. ex-,- vtending ortiond andiprovidedwi'th ahead d ;.wh1 4 p m' h he swims e 1 d,
