COUNTER-PAD.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 6, 1913.
Application filed October 7, 1912. Serial No. 724,371.
. To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, LESTER S. RILEY, citizen of the United States, residing at Boston, Massachusetts, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Counter-Pads,
of which the following is a specification.
ment and combination of parts hereinafter described and particularly defined by the appended claim.
A pad constructed in accordance with my invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l is a plan View, and Fig. 2 is a section on line 22 of Fig. 1.
The improved pad-shown in the drawings comprises a lower layer or base 1, preferably of heavy paper of a size and shape adapted to fit the holder, upon which is mounted approximately centrally thereof a pad or thick disk of fibrous material 2, such as red fiber paper. Superimposed on this disk 2 is a disk of elastic cushion material such as pure rubber 3. Above the cushion disk is a" layer or disk of buggy top material or rubber cloth 4, and over the whole is a layer of cloth 5, correspondin in shape to the base layer 1. The layers or d isks 2, 3 and 4 are all of the same size and correspond in size and shape to the opening in the holding plate disclosed in my aforesaid application and'the covering layer 5 is pressed around said disk and has its entire surrounding surface cemented or glued tothe face of the base layer.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim is A pad for the purpose described comprising a cushion body, a fabric base layer beneath and supporting the same, and having projecting marginal edges lying in the same plane wit. the main portion of said base layer, and an upper textile c overing havin its outer portion pressed down around sai body and having its edges cemented t0 the marginal portions of the base layer, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof, I alfix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
