Referring in detail to the accompanying drawings, the numeral 10 designates the body portion of the herein described post. This is formed of plastic material, preferably concrete, and'said body is provided with a reinforcing rod 20 -which extends vertically through the body of the post.

These fasteners are formed of'sheet metal, preferably galvanized steel, and thus susceptible of stamping or bending to the desired configuration. The fastener is formed by bending a straight piece of sheet metal to form a arge eye 11, and-after this eye is formed the fastener is given a half twist as shown at 15. The ends of the fastener are then placed in a die and clamped down, and the said ends turned inwardly as at 16 to form an entrance 17 for the line wire. By this construction and arrangement the ends or jaws 16 are yielding and have a spring action throughout their entire length so that the line wire can be readily secured in position within the fastener by simply pressing the same in the aperture 17 and completely close theopening, when the wire will seat itself in either one of the recesses 18-18 formed in the jaws or ends 16-16.
An important feature of my invention is the spring action of the jaws along the entire length of said jaws, by which construction and arra ement the line wire can be secured within the fasteners without manipulation of the fasteners other than pressing the line wire against the springs jaws 16-16. The fastener is given a half twist as at 15 in order to have the entrance of the fastener extend parallel with'the line wires to facilitate the entrance thereof, and to have the large eye lat vertical to receive an anchoring rod 20, which extends through the post 10, and engages all of the eyes 14 of the fasteners, and thus holds the same in proper alineincnt and in position within the post. Another important feature of my fastener is that after the line wires are inserted in the same and the tension device forstretching the wires is removed, the wires are prevented from sagging by the barbs of the wires coming in contact with the sides of the fasteners, thesa-id fasteners simply per mitting a relaxation of the wires to this extentso that a tight fence is secured.
Where the fasteners are used in conjunction with a woven fence it is not necessary to give the fasteners a half twist as the fasteners are only employed to receive and relie then stretch the same to another post and press one of the:vertical connecting wires into the opening 17 between the spring jaws- I that I can manufacture these fasteners very Y rapidly andat slight cost, and that a fence,
either barb wire or woven,-can readily be secured in position on the posts by means of my improved fasteners without the utilization of any tools, by simply pressing the strands of the wires between the spring jaws of the fasteners, directly in front of the fas teners and in line with the direction in which the fastener extends.
