To all whom it may concern: y' Be it known that I, WILLIAM H. C. Hic- GINs, Jr., a citizen of the United States, re-
siding at Laporte, in the county of Laporte 5 and State of Ind1ana,'have invented a certain newoand useful Improvement in Valves, of which the following is a specication.
My invention relates `to improvements in carbureter valves and is .illustrated in the loyaccompanying drawing, which is a vertical *cross-section through a valve-adapted to be used to introduce fuel or .water into the mixing or carbureting chamber.

'the wallA1. The valve consists of the 'cylinder B screw-'threaded at B1, perforated at B2 and adapted to rest at .B3 on the .lower wall A1. It is surrounded by the 'gauze cylinder B4; Within the cylinder B is the cylinder C screw-'threaded at; C1, perorated above at C2, provided with a long hanging nozzle portion C3' which carries a washer` C* whereby altight. joint is made betweenthe upper part of the nozzle. C3 and the lower part of the wall A1.- The cylinder Bv is alsointernally screw-threaded at CA to engage the stem D, screw-threaded at' D1 and providedI with the hand wheel D2. The spring D3 is placed between the 'wheel D? andthe upper wall A. On the lowerend of the stem is the valve D4 with thehguide'iiange Dsipartlyencircling the 'stem above the valve and a valve seat D `in opposition to the valve.
The Ainner cylinder. is held-in position on the outer cylinder because of their screw- 40 t-lgreaded engagement and both are rigidly and firmly clamped to the lower wall A1 sc as to make a tight joint therewith on the lower side. The valve stem is screwed into the inner cylinder and the valve canbe set at any desired position by operating. the

It then enters the perforations B2, passes upwardly through the two cylinders, passes through the perforations C2 in the inner cylinder and down about the stemand out between the valve and valve zle. In practice the level of iuid inthe chamber isf maintained at about theheighto the perforation C2, and as long as a vacu-l um is created in the mixing chamber'belowl the wall A1 the fluid is raised to the level of the aperture C2, whereupon it iiows downwardly and out through the nozzle.'
