OSIAS H. BEAUBEGARD, F MARLBORO, NEW HAMPSHIRE.
DOOR-KNOB AND simian.
' 0 all 11:72 0212 it may concern:
Be it known that I, OSTAS H. BEAURE- calm, a citizen of the United States, residing at lilarlboro, in the county of Cheshire and State of New Hampshire, have invented new and .useful Improvements in Door-Knobs and Shanks, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to door knobs and shanks and the object of the invention is to provide a simple and'eflicient device for securing the roses and the knobs and also for providing an easily operated latch controlling shank.
Further objects of this invention will appear read in connection with the accompanying, drawing which forms a par tion, and in which Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view. Fig. 2 is a detail perspective view of one of the cones. Fig. 3 is a similar view of the other cone.
Referring more particularly to the drawing 1 represents a door having an ordinary mortise lock 2 arranged therein and provided on either side with knob'roses 3 having ball races 4; formed therein. The knob shank 5 passes through theknob roses and provided with a square portion 6 to engage the lock andzwith threaded outer ends 7 upon which the cones 8 and 9 and the knobs I are threaded. The cone 8 is provided with a milled outer surface while the convt) arranged with-sockets 1.1 in its periphery to receive operating pins used for the purpose of adjusting the cone upon the Specification of Letters Patent.
proper relation between the knob as the following specific description is t of this applica- Patented Apr. 8, 1913.
Application filed September 24,,1912. Serial No. 722,084.
"shank. Arranged in the ball races are suitable anti-friction balls'which are engaged with the cones and in this connection it will be noted that after the cones have been properly adjusted on the shank with relation to the anti-friction balls 12 the knobs can be screwed upon the shank into engagement with the cones so as to lock the cones in position and at the same time to lock the knobs on the shank.
What is claimed is z- 1 1. In combination knob roses, a .shank passing through the knob threaded ends, said roses having ball races, balls therein, cones adjustably mounted upon the shank and adapted to engage the balls in the races, means for lockingthe cones in adjusted position on the shank, and means for holding the cones agalnst rotation while thelocking means is applied.
2. In combination knob roses having annular ball races therein surrounding a central aperture, a shank passing through the knob roses and having threaded ends, antifriction balls mounted in the races, cones threaded u on the shank and adapted to engage the alls in said races, knobs threaded on the shank and adapted to lock the cones in adjusted position, and means, for l1 1dingthe cones against rotation while the knobs are turned to locking osition.
' In testimony whereof I a x my signature in presence of two witnesses.
I OSIAS H. BEAUREGARD.
