yhave invented a new and valuable Improvement in Show-.Cases for Ribbons, Tapes, Suc.; and I do here# `by declare that th'e following is a full, clear, and exact description of the'constrnction and operation of the same, reference being had to the annexed drawing `{making a part of this specification, and to .the letters .and figures .of reference marked thereon.

My invention relates `to showcases -for ribbons,

'tapes,&c.,"andconsists in the construction and vnoiel arrangelnentof devices designed to alford the most ample display of theribbons, and, at thesaine time, withoutdisplacing or handling the bolt or'roll, to permit the admeas'urement and removal of any quantity desired.

The improvement is adapted to horizontal as well as vertical showcases, but `in the drawing I have il-l lustrated its application to a smallportable ribboncase, designed tostand upon 'the counter, and to be easily moved to any part thereof. 4

Itis designed to hold thevends of the ribbons when nnrolled for display, and,`with this object in view, the

rubber slip .or band d is stretched upon it. The end of the ribbon is tlus secured between the bar E and therubber band d.

. In order to provide means for placing the ribbonbolts, with their blocks, within sncha case, and so arranging them that theribbons may beunwound directly from the'blocks, the' device lettered F upon the drawing has .been designed. l

This consistsoiI a stationary bar, extending the length of the case, and provided with adjustable arms h h', having pivot-pins z adapted to hold the block and, at the same time, to permit of its-revolution.

same elastic, as h', thus keeping the journal-points c z continually pressed into the blook'of the ribbon.

. rlhe arms It and h are adjustable toward or from eachother onthe bar F, in order that they may be .readily adapted to bolts of different sizes.

When, however, it -is'preferred to rewind the ribbon upon one of the rollers D, the set-screw of this roller .is tightened upon the 'sha-ft, and'those of the other rollers'thereonloosened. The crank or key beingv applied tothe end of the shaft, the ribbon willbe wound upon the roller, while the other rollers willrernain sta-r tionary, being held by the clamped ribbon-ends.

When it is desired to unwind a ribbon from one of the rollers, for' sale or other purposes, the set-screw of this lroller is loosened, and the ribbon can he then readily drawn od", without disturbing the otherrollers Y upon the shaft. I
