PORTABLE ELECTRIC LIGHT.
mamas.
.new and useful lnnirovenients in Portable Electric Lights, of which the. following a specification.
My invention has relation to new and useful improven'ients in electric appliances for harness and bridle.
The main object. of the inventimnis to provide a light to the horseshead and have connected therewith an ()lOtl'l'lU wire which conveys current from batteries secured to the saddle of the h: rness thereby turnisl'iing' a perfect light; for night driving. The device may also be usedwvlien horse back riding. the batteries which furnish the current to be. secured to the riding saddle.
A further object of the invention is to provide an electric light that may be. used anywhere at night with perfect safety, as for instance, the barn, cotton gin, etc.. by carrying the same in the hand.
\Vith the foregoing and other objects in view my invention consists of the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as are described in this specification, illustrated in the accompanying drawings. forming a part thereof and particularly pointed out in the appended claim.
Referring to the drawings: l igure l is a perspective view of a horse to whose harness my invention has been applied. Fig. 2 is a diagrammatic view of the harness to which my invention has been applied. Fig. 3 is a perspective view of the light and means for securing the same to the bridle in position over the head of the horse. F fl is-a vertical, central, longitudinal, sectional view of the light and means for securing it to the bridle. Fig. 5 is a plan view of the means for securii'ig the lamp to the bridle.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, in. which like numerals designate like parts throughout, my invention is described as follows:
The battery 1 is secured to the harness Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed March 13, 1912. SerialNo. 683,590.
Patented Apr. 1, 191.3.
The electric light is provided in a metal reflector 6. provided with a double convert lens 7 which lens will concentrate the rays of light from the lamp 8 therein and also the reflected rays from said reflector 6. The reflector is integral. with the upper end of a hollow post 9 through which post the wire 3 extends. Said post has its lower end riveted to a curved metallic base 10, which base is secured to the crown loop or upper partof the bridle by means of rivets orot-her suitable fastening means, passing through pm'forations 11 in the base. Although I have specifically described the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of the several parts of my im'ention. yet I do not confine myself to such specific construction combination and arrangement but. reserve and may exercise the right to make such changes therein as do not depart from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claim.
Having described my invention, what I claim as new, is: I
A portable electric light including a me tallic reflector, a hollow post integral therewith and extending at right angles to the axis thereof, and anged at its free end, a curved metal plate secured to said flange and provided with an opening in alinemcnt with the post opening, said plate further provided with means for securing it to the crown loop .of a bridle, an electric light mounted in saidreflector, circuit. wires for said light, passing through said post and curved. plate, and a source of current for said light. o
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
