To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, lVALTnR R. Locnrmn'r, a citizen of the United States, residing at Hotchkiss. in the county of Delta, State of Colorado, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Lacing-Hooks; and I do declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
The present invention is directed to im provements in lacing hooks for shoes and the like, and has for its object to so construct hooks of this type that the lace is prevented from becoming accidentall disengaged from the hooks.
A further object of the invention is to provide hooks of this type with simple and etlicient means for preventing the hook from swinging upon its pivot when engaged by the lace.
With these and other objects in view, this invention resides in the novel features of construction, formation, combinations and arrangements of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which:

Referring to the drawing. the numeral 1 designates a base ring. and by which the hook is stitched to the adjacent edges of a shoe or the like.
Formed integral with the ring 1 is a pair of spaced ears 2. the upper ends of which are provided with registered perforations 3 for receiving the pin l upon which is pivotally mounted the jaw 5, said jaw having portions 6 and 7. which are arranged substantially at right angles to each other. One of the ears 2 is formed with an inwardly pressed boss 8. which coacts with a similar boss 9 formed upon the portion 7 of the jaw 5 said bosses being adapted to frictionally engage each other during the swinging of said aw in either direction. It will be noted that the boss 9 is arranged transversely on the portion '7 and that the boss 8 is formed longitudinally of its ear so that when one end of the boss 9 engages the outer side of the boss 8 the jaw 5 will be held against accidental swinging but will be permitted to swing open when pressure is applied to the same sufficient to permit the portion 7 to flex enough to permit this operation. T 0 limit the outward swing-- ing movement of the aw 5 the same has its portion T provided with a shoulder 10 which engages one end of the boss 8, as clearly shown in dotted lines in Fig. 3.
In operation the jaws are swung open and the lace passed under the portions 5 and in contact with the portions 7, whereupon drawing upon the lace the jaws will be swung closed and the boss 9 will ride over the boss 8 until the inner end thereof will engage one side of the boss 8, thus holding the jaw locked.
What is claimed is A lacing hook of the class described, comprising a base ring adapted for attachment to a shoe a pair of spaced ears formed integral with the ring, a jaw pivotally mount ed between the ears, said jaw consisting of portions arranged substantially at right angles to each other one of said portions having a boss arranged transversely thereof a second boss formed upon one of said ears and adapted to be slidably engaged by the first named boss when the jaw is being closed and adapted to be engaged by one side thereof when the jaw is closed, and a shoulder carried by the jaw and adapted to engage the second boss to limit the outward swinging movement of said jaw.
