Be it known that I, SANTO FisoELLA, a

subject of the King of Italy, and a resident of the city of New York, borough of Manhattan, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Non-Refillable Bottle, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description. My invention relates generally to non-refillable bottles and the principal object of the invention is to provide a device of this class which will be extremely simple, and, at the same time, adapted to be substantially non-refillable, whereby a commercially successful article may be set forth.

The production of a device which consists of simple parts of non-intricate conformation is of some importance in setting forth an article of this class, which object, together with others which will more particularly appear as the description proceeds, embodying the purposes of the invention.

Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification in which similar characters of reference denote corresponding parts in all the views, and in which- Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view of the neck of the bottle; Fig. 2 is a sectional view on the line 22 of Fig. 5 and a top plan view of the fixed stop shown in such sec tional View; Fig. 3 is a bottom plan view and a side view thereof; Fig. t is a side view and a plan View of the movable plug; Fig. 5 is a sectional view of the device in closed position; Fig. 6 is a similar view of the device, in open position.

Any suitable bottle or vessel 1, provided with a neck 2, the upper end of which is preferably provided with a flange 3, is provided on its inner side with a number of screw threads 4; the opening extending through the neck is of substantially the same diameter for the greater portion of the neck, the lower portion, however, being .constricted, the side walls tapering toward each other, as at 5. The fixed stop 6, which is placed within the neck, consists preferably of a single piece of material of circular construction having screw threads 7 formed on its side, there being a number of openings 8 extending through the stop, the under side thereof being provided with a downwardly extending projection 9 near the base of which is the shoulder 10. The screw threads formed on the side of the stop 6 are for engagement with the threads 4: formed 011 the inside of the neck of the bottle, the two parts being placed in such position in any suitable manner.

\Vithin the neck of the bottle and between the stop 6 and the constricted side walls 5 is the movable plug 11 having a recess 12 extending therein, which recess is adapted to receive the projection 9 extending from the under side of the stop, it being noted that the outside wall of the lower portion of the plug is tapered, as at 13, for cooperation with the tapered side walls 5 of the neck so that, when the parts are in the position shown in Fig. 5, the neck will be closed,'

thereby preventing any liquid being poured into the bottle.

When the bottle is brought to the JOSltiOIl shown in Fig. 6, that is, in such position that some of the liquid within the bottle may be poured, the plug 11 moves away from the side walls 5 of the neck, thereb providing a free and unobstructed outlet i'rom the inside, the liquid passing outwardly through the openings 8 in the stop 5, the shoulder 10 adjacent the under side of the stop engaging the top portion of the plug, as shown in Fig. (5, whereby the plug is prevented from closing these openings.

From this description taken in connection with the disclosure in the drawings, it is apparent that, when the bottle is in the position shown in Fig. 5, no liquid can be poured therein. However, when the bottle is brought to the position shown in Fig. 6, whatever liquid is in the bottle may be emptied, the plug 11 being freely mounted within the neck so that it may move about in order to effectively close or open the neck as the case may be.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent A non-refillable bottle having the lower end of the neck tapering, whereby the neck is of constricted inner diameter, a fixed stop within the neck and remote from the said constricted portion, openings extending transversely of the said stop, a projection extending downwardly from the under side of the stop, a shoulder adjacent the bottom of the projection, a plug movably mounted within the neck and positioned between the said stop and the said constricted portion of the neck, the loWer portion of the plug being tapered, whereby it may cooperate with the tapering and constricted portion of the neck, the said plug being provided with an open ing extending inwardly from the upper side thereof, the said opening being adapted to receive the said projection When the bottle is brought to pouring position, the said shoulder engaging the plug to keep it remote from the openings in the said stop, whereby 10 liquid may issue through the openmgs.
