I (if is a specification.

- one ofthe'mcmbers thereof on an enlarged bracket.- In a wall of" said casing is a keycot-respondingparts in the figures.
To alt wfzontz't may concern."- 7 y Be it known't-hat I, ALB RT L. -STONE,"21- eitizcn of the United States. residing in the\ City and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania. have invented a new and useful Towel-I-lolder, of which the-following.
. .l\ My invention consists (if a holder for what may be termed anendless towel, the same embodying a roller which is adapted to be locked so as to prevent improper removal or abst1-action of such towel and means for preventing improper removal of the support for said roller as will be hereinafter described.
The invention is satisfactorily illustrated in the accolnpai'iying drawing, but the im-' portant instrui'nentalities thereof may be varied, and so itis to be understood that the invc ntioniis not limited .to the specific arrangement and organization shown and.de-
Figure 1 represents a perspective view of a towel holder embodying my invention. Fig. 2 represents a longitud nal section of scale. Fig. -3':rcprescnts a side elevation thereof partly broken away. Fig. 4 .represents a section on the line :r-a: Fig. 3. Fig. 5 represcnts'a view of a portion of the interior of one of-the mcinlwrs of the device. Fig. 6 represents a side elevation of the roller employed.
Similar numerals of reference indicate Referring to the drawingsz-l designates a roller whose ends are conical shaped or pointed and has adjacent to said ends peripheral grooves forming the shoulders or necks 2.
3 designates brackets which have 0 )enings therethrough toreceivethc ends 0 the roller -1 and snjnmrt the latter. ()ne of said brackets is of the 'form of a lock-easing having within the same, the bolt. or catch 4, which in the present case is formed of a U- shaped resilient piece of material, its limbs being adapted to enter the adjacent neck of the roller and so engage with the walls thereott-hus interloekingthe roller in said hole 6 whereby access is had to the bolt or atch 4 to open-the same-and consequently release the. roller, the plate 5.of said casing Spe t 2i flcti tipii of Letters l atent. ra tente d hla gi1 having also anopeningto receive an end of the roller;
' e B'nR r ii. STONE," or rrtrnnnnirnin, PENNSYLVANIA,
TOWE -Herbert; f
1912. Serial No. 690,517..
In order to secure the brackets to a. door, wall or other place of location, they are comiectedagiththe back or base plates 7, in the center off-which areopenings 8 to receivethe screws 9 the backs of whose, heads rest onthe plates "(around the walls of said openings. The bracket that is formed with the lock casing has one otits walls extended rearwardly forming the plate 11, the sides of which turn ang'ularly formingthe limbslz? together producing a -broad'channeled base for seating itself firmly upon the backplate 7. The end of said plate 11 enters the nick of the head of the screw and so is interlocked with said screw, while the limbs 12, have on their extreme edges the lips 13 which iarepassed through openings in said back plate 7 and clenched on the inner face thereof, thus reliably connecting 76 said base plate and bracket, see Figs. 1, 2,
3 and 4-. Then, the bracket is screwed to the place of support after which the roller is applied to the bracket and locked. Now as the nick of the screw is filleth-by the edge of 80 the plate 1], and ascrew driver cannot be inserted in said nick, the bracketcannot be unscrewed, while the roller remains locked therein. As -only one bracket is formed of a lock casing and contains a locking mernher. that in the present case being on the left hand side of Fig. 1, the bracket at the rightside of said figure is also constructed of an angular plate which rests on the back plate and has the rear edge of its main wall enter- 3 ing the nick of the screw 9, the sameas at the left side of saidfigure. I
lt will be seen that one end of the roller is inserted in the bracket, inthe. present case on the right side of Fig. 1, and the roller is then pushed in the direction toward the lock-containing bracket. which is in the left side of said figure its head passing through the plate 5 into said lock-containing bracket and en ering between the legs of the bolt 4, thusspreading apart said legs. \Vli'cn the neck 2 clears said legs, the latter spring into said neck, thus locking the roller with the bracket and preventing the removal of the towel hung on the roller. When, however, a suitable kc is inserted through the hole- 6 and tune the legs of the-bolt are separated and so cleared of the neck 2 when the bolt may be sli ped out of the lock containing bracket an removed therefrom. If desired, the roller may be withdrawn from the opposite the towel 9 i bracket. before the application of another towel and the remsertion of the end ot the roller toward the lock, it being noticed also that the 'doub1 -point-ed ends of the roller 5 Ipermit-"the latter to he fitted into either.
racket, each end portion of the roller having a neck 2 either of which is adapted for engagement by the bolt 4, it not being neeessary to provide each bracket with a lock- 10 ing device.
In order to limit-the closing motion of the legs of thebolt, the inner face-of the bracket around the opening whiehfreeives'the end of the roller has secured to 'itjthejwards '10 1d which project inwardly fro inwsaid -bracket and act as steps against whieh said legs ab'ur, whenthe. end of the roller i 's removed, so as to prevent said legs from clo'smg s'aid openin'g while on the contrary spacing said legs so that they they be engaged by the onieal or pointed end of the roller when inserted claim as newand desire toseeure 'teis Patent 1s plurality into the bracket; so as to be spread apart preparatory to springing into the neck 2 as hereinbefore stated.
Having thus described my invention what by Letmember, and a screw-attached base plate 5 with the head of the screw of which one of the walls ofsaid bracket is adapted to engage" .l ALBERT L. STONE. \Vitnesses JOHN A. 'mnrnsueizu,
