WIRE-DISTRIBUTING DEVICE.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JESSE B. HOARD, a citizen of the United States, residing at Sparta, in the county of Knox, State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in ire-Distributing Devices; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to wire distributing devices.

The object of the invention resides in the provision of a wire distributing device which may be easily: and quickly associated with an ordinary wagon body so that the distribution of the wire may be effected by the travel of such wagon body.

A further object of the invention resides in the provision of a device of the character referred to which will permit of the easy application and removal ofwire reels to and from same.

With the above and other objects in view, the invention consists in the details of construction and in the arrangement and combination of parts to be hereinafter more fully described and particularly pointed out in the appended claim.

Referring to the drawing A indicates the rear end of a wagon body which includes side members 10 and 11 and a bottom 12. The wire distributor which is adapted to be associated with the wagon body A is indicated generally at B and is shown as comprising a pair of parallel spaced arms 13 and lt which are mutually connected together by a frame C, said frame including a'bottom member 15, side members 16 and 17 and a top member 18. 18 is hingedly connected to, the side member 17 by'means of flexible hinges 19 and 20. The free end of the top member 18 is adapt ed to be secured to the side member 16 of the frame by means of a flexible hasp 21,

said hasp being secured to the top member 18 andadapted to engage over a staple 22 mounted in the side member 16 and retained against disengagement from said staple by means of a pin 23' inthe usual and well known manner. Passing through suitable openings in the bottom member 15 of the frame is a plurality of spaced journal rods 24 having enlarged ends 25 disposed exteriorly of the bottom member 15. The journal rods 21 are held against disengagement from the bottom member 15 by means of a metallic strip 26 which extends across said enlarged ends and has its terminals secured between the arms 13 and 14 and the bottom member 15 of the frame C. The top mem ber 18 of the frame C is provided with a plurality of spaced openings 27 which are adapted to receive respectively the ends of the journal rods 21 which are disposed re-' mote from the bottom member 15 when said top member 18 is positioned as shown in Flgs. 1 and 2. to be engaged respectively over the journal rods 21 in the usual and well known manner when the top member 18 has been swung on the hinges 19 and 20 to open position. Upon the :movement of the top member 18 to closed position it will be apparent that the spools 28 are rotatably secured within the frame C upon the journal rods 2-1. It will be noted that when the top member 18 of the frame C is in closed position it engages one end of the spool 28 so as to friction on said spool and effect an even unwinding of the wire therefrom. The ends of the arms 13 and 14 remote from the frame C are each forked so as to form outer and inner arms 29 and 30 respectively, the inner arm 30 being ofless length than the outer arm 29. Pivoted on the under side of each arm 29 is a plate 31 for a purpose tively. Secured to the side members 16 and 17 of the frame C are corresponding ends of stay rods 32 and 33 respectively. The other ends of these rods 32 and 33 terminate in hooks 34 which are adapted to be engaged over the bolster rings 35 0f the wagon. These rods 32 serve to generally strengthen the connection between the device and the wagon.

What is claimed is:

A wire distributing device comprising a pair of spaced arms having corresponding ends forked, the arms of said forked ends being adapted to be disposed in embracing relation to respective sides of a Wagon body, a frame connecting the other corresponding ends of the arms means for removably jour naling a plurality of spool members within said frame, a late pivoted on the outer arm of each forkecl end and adapted to be moved between respective sides and the bottom of a wagon body to lock the arms and frame to the body, and stay rods having one end secured to the sides of the frame respec tively and their other ends provided with means for detachable connection with a part of a Wagon.
