To all whom it may concern Be itknown that I, GUSTAV \V. Hansen, Jr., a citizen of the United States, residing at Jackson, in the county of Madison and State of Tennessee, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Awning- Fixtures, of which the following is a'specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.

Another objectofthe invention resides in the provision of an awning supporting arm and improved means for mounting the same upon the building wall whereby the awning will at all times be held taut or tightly stretched when in use.

Still another object of the invention resides in the provision of an improved sectional laterally swinging arm for roller awnings, and means for mounting and supporting said arm in an elevated or lowered position.

A further object of the invention is to provide an awning fixture of the above character which is simple and durable in construction, may-be easily and quickly mounted in position for use and is yery efiicientgand serviceable in operation.

Referring in detail to the drawings des-v ignates the awning top orcover which is adapted to be rolled or wound upon a roller 6 mounted at its ends in suitable supporting brackets 7 secured to the face of the building wall. Anyordinary or approved operating means for this roller 'may be provided. The improved supporting arm for the awning top Which constitutes the subject matter of the present application includes an outer section 8 and an inner arm section 9. The outer section of the arm has an angle plate 10 mounted upon-one end thereof, said plate being connected to the flattened end of the arm section 8 by means of the pivotpin 11. Upon the angle plate 10 one end of a hinged cross bar 12 is arranged and is'ri idly secured to said plate by means of the screws or other analogous fastening devices indicated at 13. The other arm section 9 of the awning fixture includes two parallel members 15. Each of these members has a casting secured upon one end thereof which includes a disk 16 and an attachingarm 17 which is adapted to be bolted or otherwise rigidly fixed to the end. of the member 1-5. The plate 34 is provided with spaced openings 37 which receive the, pin 38, said pin being loosely disposed through an opening in the end of the arm 33. \Vhen the pin 38 is disposed through the opening in the outer end of the plate 34, the awning arm will be "supported in "an inclined position upon the wall ofthe building as shown in Fig. 1. By

removing said pin, the arm may be swung downwardly and inwardly against the face of" the wall, and the pin disposed through the opening 37 adjacent to the hinge 35 of 'the'plate 34 whereby tlie arm is held in its lowered position and swinging movement of t-he'same from, the pivot 31 of the arm 30 i effectually prevented.

From the foregoing, it is believed that the construction and manner of operation of my improved awning fixture will be fully understood? When it is desired to roll the 1 awning upon the roller 6, the armsections stretched taut.

I p j While I have shown and described the preferred construction and arrangement of thevarious elements, it will be obvious that I the invention 1s susceptible of, considerable modification in the form, proportions and arrangements of the parts without departing from the essentiafeatures or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.

Havingtjhus described the invention, what is claimed is:

4. The combination with the awning top, of an extensible arm consisting of two pivotally' connected laterally foldable sections, a hinged plate adapted to be mounted upon a building wall for movement in a vertical plane, spaced supporting members, one of the arm sections eing pivotallymounted between said supporting members for swingi-ng movement, a horizontal pivot'on the building wall to which one of the su port-- ingmembers is connected, said hinge plate being provided with spaced openings, and
