Be it known that I, AUsTAvE P. PHILLIPS, a citizen of the United States, residing at Atlanta, in the county of Fulton and State of Georgia, have invented a new anduseful Footstool, of which the following is a specification. This invention relates to foot stoolspar ticularly designed for use in shoe stores, the principal object of the invention being to provide astructure of this character which can be adjusted for use as an ordinary .foot

stool and which can, furthermore, be arranged for use in connection with a foot.

W'ith the foregoing and other objects in 7 view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention herein disclosed can be made within the scope of what is claimed, without departing from the spirit of the invention.

The 010- sure 11 is preferably provided with a foot mat or cover 15 of rubber or any other suitable material soas to form a comfortable rest for the foot of a customer being fitted with shoes. v

It will be seen that when the closure 11 is in its normal position, as shown in Figs. 2 and 3, the foot of a customer can be placed thereon and the stool can be used as ordinarily while a customer is bein fitted. \Vhen itis desired to measure the ootof a customer, the closure 11 is pushed upwardly so as to pass over the cleats 13 and between the cleats 14 and the back strip 4.. The receptacle 8'is thus exposed and a chart. 9 is placed within the receptacle and the foot of including a footrest, said top being shiftable under the seat to open position and a flexible foot mat upon said top.
