WILLIS J. TUTTLE, OF ALBANY, WYOMING.
HOSE-CLAMP.
Specification of T-etters Patent.
Patented Feb. 4, 1913.
Application filed July 27,1911. Serial No. 640,820.,
useful Improvements in Hose-Clamps; and
I do hereby declare the following to be. a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in hose clamps.
An object of this invention is the provision of a hose clamp comprising a pair of hinged arcuate sections provided at their free ends with interlocking means whereby the same may be brought together and held against displacement.
A further object of this invention is to. improve and simplify devices of this char acter rendering them. comparatively simple and inexpensive to" manufacture, reliable and efficient in use and readily operated.
With the above and other objects in view this invention resides in the novel features engage the pin 11 upon the of construction, formations, combinations and arrangements of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which y Figure 1 is a side elevation of a portion of a nozzle and section of hose secured thereto by my improved clamp. Fig. 2 is a plan view thereof.. Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view taken on the line 33 of Fig, 1. Fig. t is a longitudinal sectional view taken on'the line 4-4. of Fig. 2. 4'
Referring to the drawing by similar characters of reference throughout the several viewsfthe'numeral 5 designates a'portion of a nozzle, the terminalhof which is surrounded by a section hose. My proved clamp -7 surrounds-the said hos and holds it against dis lacement with respect to the nozzle. T clamp 7 comprises a pair of arcuate sections 8 and 9, one of which has extending therefrom a tongue 10 formed upon its outer terminal with a cross pin 11. j
The section 9 is slotted-at one end and bent to form a pair of spaced eyes 12 which op osite sides, of the tongue 10. .The free ends of these arcuate sections 8 and 9 have formed thereon'ears 13 and 14, respectively, which extend substantially radially from the ring 15 described by the arcuate sections 8 and 9. These ears 13 and-14 are apertured as at 16 for the reception of a threaded clamping bolt 18 provided upon one end with a head '19 and having adjustable upon the opposite end a locking nut 20 whichis adapted to be held against rotation by the engagement between one of its sides and the adjacent end of one of the arcuate sections. v
The section 8 is enlarged at its juncture with the ear 13 and is extended therebeyond to produce a pair of spaced guides 21 which engage the opposite sides of the arcuate member 9. The car 14 is extended upon the opposite sides of the end of the member 9 and is provided with depending terminals 22 which produce grooves 23 for the engagement with the guides 21. If desired the outer face of the ear 14 may be countersunk as at 24 for the reception of the head 19 of the bolt. 1
From the foregoing disclosures taken in connect-ion with the accompanying drawing, it will be manifest that a hose clamp is provided for which will fulfil all of the necessary requirements of such a device.
Having thus fully described this inven tion, what I claim as new and desire to ob.- tain by Letters Patent, is:
The combination in a hose clamp, of a pair of arcuate sections hinged at their ends upon one side thereof, radially extending ears projecting from the free ends'of the sections, .guides'extending fi-om one of the sections beyond the adjacent earand engaging the opposite sides of the other section,
extensions formed up0n.one of said ears,
depending terminals providedupon the extensions producing recesses for engagement with the guides, a-clamping bolt extending through the. ears and a nut threadedthereon and'held againstrotation by its engage- -ment with one of said sections, substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
In testimony whereof, I aflix my signae ture, in presence of two witnesses; p p I p f WILL IS {J. j,
