i HOSE-CLAMP.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented June 30, 1908.
Application filed August 12, 1907. Serial No. 388,278.
To all whom it may concern: The lever 12 is then swung down between the Be it known that we, HARRY C. UMPLEBY ears which draws the two sections tightly toand MARTIN J. BUTLER, citizens of the i gether against the hose, and securely fastens United States, residing at Angelica, in the it to the part 6, and upon inserting the pin 17 county of Allegany and State of New, York, in the openings in the ears 16 the lever will be i securely locked therebetween.
have invented certain new and useful Imrovenients in Hose-Clamps," of which the The clamp herein described is simple 1n construction and can be readily ap lied or ollowing is aspecification.
This invention relates to hose-clamps for removed, and it effectually serves t e purpose for which it is intended.
attachin the hose to a nozzle, coupling, etc., and has for its ob ect to provide a simple and The lever 12 is straight and extends tanentially to the section 8 of the band and also efficient clamp which can be easily applied eyond the cars 16, in view of which it can be and removed without the use of a tool.
In the accompanying drawing, Figure 1 is more easily taken hold of to apply or remove the coupling.
We claim:
A hose clamp comprising a flexible split band having at one of its ends an abutment, ears on the other end of the band, a lever adapted to extend tangentially to the band, and having lateral extensions at one end, a pivotal connection between one of said extensions and the ears, a hook pivoted to the other extension and engageable with the abutment, ears on the band beyond the oint of tangency of the lever and havin a ined openings, between which ears the ever is adapted to be placed with its free end spaced from the band, and a pin passing through the openings in the ears for locking the lever therebetween.
In testimony whereof we affix our signatures, in presence of two witnesses.

cation thereof, the release position belng shown in dotted lines. Fig. 2 is a plan view.
In the drawin s, 5 denotes a section of hose which is to ie clamped to a nozzle or coupling indicated at 6, The clamp com prises a flexible band of spring metal made in two sections indicated at 7 and 8 respectively, said sections having a hinge connection 9. The sections lap at their free ends and on the section 7 is an abutment 10 which is engageable by a hook 11, connected to a lever 12 carried by the section 8.
On the section 8 are cars 13 to which the lever 12 is pivoted as'indicated at '14. Adjacent its pivot, the lever has a lateral extension 15 to which the book 11 is pivoted. The hook is locked by passing its free end between ears 16 on the section8 and inserting a pin 17 through alined openings therein above the key.
In use, when the hook 11 is disengaged Witnesses: from the abutment 10 the sections 7 and 8 J. H. ROCK, can be opened and placed around the hose. C. ROY RooK.
