To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY C. WALDMANN, a citizen ofthe United States, residing at Wapakoneta, in the county of Auglaize and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pigeon-Traps, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to improvements in pigeon traps or devices adapted to throw and the 0b ect is to Fig. 2 1s a detail elevational view of a spring tension member; Fig. 3 is a longitudinal sectional vertical View showing the trap setting mechanism; Fig. 4 1sa detail perspective view of a catch and release mechanism; Fig. 5 is a perspective view of a table for supporting the trap;

and when released by the catch 22, which is adapted to engage said squared portion 17, will be thrown up between said standards by means of the tension of the spring 9 and will engage the spring 21 and he suddenly stopped thereby and thus project the ball 23 into the air, as shown in Fig. l in dotted lines 23 and 11 The chain 12 is secured to the arm 10 and passes into the casing 13 and over the-pulley 24 and out rearwardly connected by means of the cable 25 to the lower end of the lever 26 which is pivoted at 27 to the standard 28 which is adapted to be driven into the ground at some considerable distance from the table land is more securely supported in a vertical position by means of the leg 29. Secured to the inner portion of the casing is a coil spring 30 which encircles the chain 12 and is secured thereto at 31 whereby said chain when released by the movement of the lever- 26, the slack of said chain Will be drawn rapidly toward the arm 10 whereby said lever will be free to move upward as soon of the table 1 and is as the catch 22 is released. The manner of follows: Secured to the standard 28 is abracket 32, upon the outer end of which is pivotally mounted a lever 33 to the lower end of which is secured a cable 34, the free end of which is secured at 35 to a crank member 36, the end 37 of which presses against the lower portion 38 of the catch 22, said catch being pivoted to the bracket 89" and being pressed normally toward said arm '10 by means of the spring 40. When the lever 26 is drawn in the inclined direction as shown in dotted lines 41 in Fig. 7 the portion 42 of said lever abuts the curved portion 43 of said lever 33 and draws the end 44 of said lever toward said standard 28 whereby the cable 34 draws the arm 45 in such a direction that the arm 37 of said lever will press against the portion 38 of said catch member 22, and draw said catch member 22 out of connection with the said portion 17, as shown in dotted lines 46 in Fig. 4, whereby said arm 10 will be released in order to proj the air.

The I opposing walls of the casing 13 are provided with channels 51 into which a member 52 is adapted to slide. provided with a right-angular projection 53 which is engaged by aspring member 54 1 secured at 55 to 531d casing, this spring adapted to normally hold said member 52 in araised position as shown in-Fig. 3 whereby'balls contained in the shoot 15 are prevented from rolling therefrom when the cup.11 is in a raised position. When this .cup is lowered it seats upon the member 53 and pressesthe member 52 down into the casing whereby the cup is in a position to raise one of the balls from the shoot 15.
It will beseen that by throwing the lever lines in Fig. 7, the chain 12 will draw the arm 10 down to a-position where it will be engaged by the catch 22 so that the cup 11 will receive a ball from the shoot 15, and
when-said lever 26will be drawn in the position shown by'the dotted lines 41 in said Fig. 7 the portion 42 of the lever 26 will trip the lever 33 so that the catch 22 will be released as heretofore explained and a target will thus be projected into the air.

A device of the character described consisting of a spring arm. having a cup thereon and a ball shoot adapted to deliver the ball into said cup and means whereby said cup may project said ball into the air, said means consisting of a clock spring of which said arm is an integral part, a guide for said arm, a resilient stop for said arm, means for holding said arm in a lowered position, said means consisting of a spring actuated catch, means for tripping said catch whereby said arm will be released, said means, consisting of a lever operated crank lever, and means for lowering said spring arm, said means consisting of a cable, a lever adapted to actuate said cable, said lever adapted to trip said catch and automatic means for controlling the movement of the balls in said shoot.
