RUDOLPH BUEHLER, OF PHILADELPHIA,
PENNSYLVANIA, ASSIGNOR TO PHILA- DELPHIA HARDWARE & MALLEABLE IRON WORKS, A CORPORATION OF PENN- SYLVANIA.
FRAME FOR REGISTERS, HEATERS, VENTILATORS, OR OTHER SUITABLE DEVICES.
Application filed March 5, 1912.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, RUDOLPH BUEI-ILER, a citizen of the United States, residing in the city and county of Philadelphia, State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Frame for Registers, Heaters, Ventilators, or other Suitable Devices, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a new and useful frame for a register, ventilator or other suitable device, and consists of a frame formed of sections which may be rigidly connected and which may be removed and replaced, and the frame reassembled in a convenient manner while avoiding the loss of the entire box or frame.
The invention is satisfactorily illustrated in the accompanying drawing, but the important instrumentalities thereof may be varied, and so it is to be understood that the invention is not limited to the specific arrangement and organization shown and described.
Figure 1 represents an elevation of a frame embodying my invention. Fig. 2 represents a perspective view of a corner thereof on an enlarged scale. Fig. 3 represents a side elevation thereof. Fig. 4t represents a side elevation showing the parts in separated position. Fig. 5 represents a sectional i view on line O3-U Fig. 3. Fig. 6 represents an elevation of one of the side plates and the adjacent corners in detached position.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in the figures.
Referring to the drawings: A designates a box or frame embodying my invention, suitable for a radiator, ventilator or other f device, the same being composed of the top, bottom and side plates, lettered respectively B, C, D. Upon these parts, I provide means for rigidly connecting the same, and, as here shown, the ends of the top plate and of the bottom plate are extended vertically to coact with a suitable portion of the side plates and as the same means are employed at the top and bottom, a description of one will suffice.
E designates the sections or plate sections extending vertically forming corners of the box, and projecting from the extensions are the tongues F, which are offset from the Specification of Letters Patent.
outer Wall, forming the shoulder G, and

which are suitably cut away to form the shoulder H.
J designates a lug or ear on the side plate D, which forms a recess or groove K between it and the flange L on the said side plate D, which recess is adapted to receive the tongue F as best seen in Figs. 2 and 3, it being understood that the shoulder G rests upon the upper wall M of the side plates D, and that the shoulder I-l rests upon the upper wall N of the lug or car J. The side plate D is provided with openings P, which are adapted to be in register with the openings Q, formed in the tongue F, which are adapted to receive screws or other suitable fastening means, whereby the said tongue F will be securely and firmly connected with the side plate D, thus forming a firm con nection for the box, the tongue and sleeves preventing lateral shifting of the side, top and bottom plates one on the other and that the abutment of the various shoulders will sustain the parts, whereby the members forming the box are stiffened and braced, and the sustaining power thereof is accordingly increased, while at the same time as the side plates are imposed on the tongue F, the strength at this point is increased. hen the screws or other fastening means are removed, the frame may be dismembered, when if any of the plates are fractured or broken, they may be replaced and the members of the frame secured in the manner above stated, without the loss of the entire frame.
In the corners of the box are the lugs It, with eyes S therein for the reception of the securing rods usual in such cases. It will i be evident that the frame or box is adapted for any purpose.
Other modes of applying the principle of my invention mav be employed for the mode herein explained. Change may therefore be made as regards the mechanism thus disclosed, provided the principles of construction set forth, respectively in the following claim are employed.
Having thus described my invention, what I- claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:-
A register-frame comprising side-plates provided with flanges at their inner edges and having lugs upon their inner faces at ing offset from the bent ends forming shoulders bearing against the outer ends of the 10 the ends of their outer edges forming longitudinal grooves with said flanges, and plates reotangularly bent at their ends to have the lugs.
edges of such bent ends bear a 'ainst the ends of said side-plates and foi ined with RUDOLPH BUEHLER" tongues projecting from the inner sides of Witnesses:
such bent ends to engage and fit Within the AUGUSTINE C. METZINGER, grooves of the slde-plates, Silld tongues be- VVALTER T. FAH).
