Description

J. A. MANSON.
GARD HOLDER.
APPLICATION ULEB 1101.29, 1911.
Patented Jan. 14, 1913 HTORNEYLS kJOHN A. MANSON, OF BRIDGEPORT. CONNECTICUT.
CARD-HOLDER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 14C, 1913.
Application led November 29, 1911. Serial No. 663,079.
To al! whom it may concern.'
Be it known that I, Joi'iN A. hfiNsoN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Bridgeport, in the county of Fairfield and State of Connecticut, have invented a new and Improved Card-Holder, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
My invention relates to a new and iinproved forni of card holder, and an object of my invention is to provide a holder for sales cards, which may be readily mounted and which will positively' retain the cards in removable position.
vWith the above and other objects in view, as will more fully hereinafter appear, the present invention consists in certain novel details of construction and arrangement of parte hereinafter fully described, and particularly pointed out in the appended claims.
I attain the above-outlined objects by mounting upon a suitable support, a light metal sheet, the outer edges of which are turned inward on both sides of the sheet, to hold cards upon opposite sides of the saine.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part. of this speciication, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures, and in which- Figure 1 is a front elevation showing a preferred embodiment of my invention mounted upon a suitable support; Fig. 2 is an enlarged transverse sectional view taken on the line 2-2 and looking in the direction of the arrow, portions of said view being broken away centrally, and Fig. 3 is an enlarged horizontal transverse sectional view taken on the line 3 3 looking in the direction of the arrow, also having the ccntral portion broken away.
Described more in detail, l have-shown a suitable support A, pivotally mounted upon which is a card holder B, incre particularly forming the subject-mattei' of my invention, which card holder in this instance, is shown to be attached to a support A, by means of a pivoted rod C, having the lower end mounted in a pocket D, and the' upper end within a bracket E.
The card holder B comprises a rel tively long rectangular sheet Li, preferably of a light metal, the top edge 5 of which is overlapped, as shown more particularly in Fig. 2, to form a bead edge. The outer longitudinal edge 6, as shown more particularly vin Fig. 3, is first bent forwardly, as shown at 7, and then bent back upon itself, to fofin a iiange 8; the portion forming the iange is then bent back upon itself again, and is then -bent in a plane at right angles to the plane of the sheet 41, to form a side 9, and is then again bent to form a flange 10 on the side opposite to the flange 8, to retain the card on the back of the plate. Preferably, the'extreine edge is bent back upon itself, to forni a rounded edge 11. The bottom edge 12 is similarly constructed, as shown more particularly in Fig. 2, in order to form a bottom supporting ledge on opposite sides of the sheet 4. The inner edge 13 is similarly bent, except that at spaced-apart points, the side 9 has portions 14 bent outwardly, to encircle and firmly embrace the rod (j, forming a plurality of keepers, to maintain the holder on the rod. If desired, the portions 14 may be indented, to
tively retain the holder in position. It will be seen by this construction, that the cards F may be inserted from the top between the pairs of flanges 8 or 10, and will rest upon the lower'liange at thecdge 12, and/they may be retained in position by means of pivoted iingers 15.
Should it be desired to hang the card holder upon a. suitable pin, an aperture 16 is provided adjacent the upper edge of the holder.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as nevi7 and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1. A card holder, comprising a fiat plate having its botto-in edge bent to forni ledges at opposite sides. and its side edges, each bent to form an inwardly extending flange at each side of the plate and a member connecting said flanges, the connect-ing member at one edge of the plate being bent at intervals to forni pintle keepers or sockets.
QJ'A card holder, comprising a fiat meicol .tnllic .sheetone eige of which is bent forname to this specification in the pgesence of 'ward over one face' of said sheet andthen two subscribing Witnesses.
-l bent back upon itself, overlapping the op- .E voting rod, spaced-apart portions of seid Witnesses:
posite lztee of said sheet, and e supporting JOHN 'A MKNSON entback edge eneirclin said rod. W., S. ORTON, r `In testimony whereo I have signed my PHILIP D. ROLLHAUS.
