This-lnvention relates to a combined snow plow and shovel, one ofitsobj-eCts being to provide a light, durable and compact device of this character which can be converted quickly and easily into'either a shovel or a. plow without requiring theremoval or the addition of'alny parts. Referring to the figures'by characters of reference 1 and 2 designate the upwardly diverging side arms of a substantially diamond-shaped backing frame made of a stiff metal rod, and. extending from these arms 1 and 2 are upwardly converging arms3 and 4 terminating in parallel portions 5. These portions are secured in any desired manner to opposite sides of a handle 6, said portions clamping tightly upon the handle. Ears 7 extend from the clamping'portions 5 and pivoted between'them is a lever 8 having links 9 pivotallyconnected to opposite sides thereof. 5. A shovel including a backing, blades connected thereto and means for simultaneously adjusting the blades angularly about converging axes to fold them together at one end to form a plow.

6. A shovel including a backing, blades connected thereto, means for simultaneously adjusting the blades angularly about converging axes to fold them together at one end to form a plow, and means for locking the blades when folded.

7. The combination with a backing, of blades hingedly connected to opposed sides thereof and normally bearing on the backing, means for simultaneously swinging the blades about converging axes to bring them together at one end and form a plow, and means for locking the blades in such position.

8. The combination with a backing and a handle connected thereto, of opposed similar blades normally bearing against the backing to form a shovel, said blades being connected to opposite sides of the backing and adapted to swing relative thereto about converging axes, an actuating device adjacent the handle, and link connections between said device and the blades.

9. The combination with a backing and a handle connected thereto, of opposed similar blades normally bearing against the backing to form a shovel, said blades being connected to opposite sides of the backing and adapted to swing relative thereto about converging axes, an actuating device adjacent the handle, links connecting said device to the inner edge portions of the blades and cooperating with the backing to secure the blades in position for use as a shovel, said links constituting means for swinging the blades about their axes and folding them together at one end when the lever is shifted in one direction relative to the handle.

10. The combination with a backing and a handle connected thereto, of opposed similar blades normally bearing against the backing to form a shovel, said blades being connected to opposite sides of the backing andadapted to swing relative thereto about converging axes, an actuating device adjacent the handle, links connecting said device to the inner edge portions of the blades and cooperating with the backing to secure the blades in position for use as a shovel, said links constituting means for swinging the blades about their axes and folding them 6) together at one end when the lever is shifted in one direction relative to the handle, and means for engaging the lever to hold it against movement.
