by paste, glue or the like, to a stiffened board 7, which is preferably formed of corrugated pasteboard or packing of well known construction. The envelop or re ceptacl'e, when folded or collapsed, extends below the bottom edge of the stiffeningboard or back, sothat, when in open position, the bottom of the receptacle will coincide with the bottom of the back. The top of the receptacle extends a considerable dis- 'tan'ce above the -top of the back, so that the first said top may be folded' and doubled under, or upon itself, as shown in Figs. 1, 2 and 3, thereby providing for the perfect exclusion of dust, etc.

It will be seen that the corrugations of the back extend laterally thereof, or in a horizontal direction, and the back is thereby prevented from being easily bent on a. vertical line. In order to prevent said back from being easily bent on a horizontal line, I have provided a stiffening rib 8, having its central portion glued or otherwise secured along the vertical center of said back, and it will be seen that the corrugations of this .rib are vertically disposed; that is, oppositely disposed to the corrugations of the back. vIt will therefore be seen that the back is stiffened, by the corrugations, both broken lines, Fig. 4, and is adapted to have its sides folded upon itself, or to have one side 9 folded over. its opposite side 10,-as

The receptacle, is preferably provided with retaining members 17, consisting of strips of pasteboard or the like, secured to the receptacle, and each adapted to be folded upon itself, as indicated in broken lines, when the receptacle is folded. When the receptacle is in open position, as shown in Fig. 4-, the retainers 17 may also be opened,

as in the full line position, for holding the receptacle. wide open while the garment or garments are being inserted.

Several strings or other flexible tying members 19 have their middle portions secured to the back, adjacent to. the stiffening ribS, and are adapted to hold said stiffening rib in its closed position and the upper tying member 19 is also adapted to extend around said back and said receptacle and to hold it in a partially collapsed position, and to bind upon the garments contained therein, so that the package may be as compact as possible. without wrinkling or otherwise detrimentrflly affecting said garments. .The

topmost flexible tying member 19 also embraces the doubled or folded topportion of the receptacle for holding it in closed position. v

It is obvious that I have provided a neat, economical and thoroughly eliicient delivery euvclop'or receptacle for garments, and one that l'lltty be produced at a cost but very little if any greater than that of the ordinarydelivery boxes. Therefore, the person or firm delivering the'clothing may, if desired, imprint advertising matter upon the envelop or back, 'andmay present, the receptacle to the customer, who will find this envelop convenient and practical for keep- I do not. limit my invention to the exact details of construction, combination and ar rangement of parts as herein described and shown, but my invention may be limited only by a reasonable interpretation of the following claims.

What I claim as new is:

1. In a garment delivery envelop, a receptacle, a relatively stiff back on the receptacle, a vertical stiffening rib secured to said back, supporting means ext-ending through said I stiffening rib and back and receptacle into the interior of the latter, and a clothes hanger engaging with the supporting means.

In an envelop for clothing, a receptacle, a back of horizontally'corrugated mate- 'rial secured on the receptacle, the upper open end of said envelop extending above said' strengthening back and adapted to be folded down on said ieceptacleito close said open end, a strengthening member formed of corrugated material arranged vertically of the back and having its corrugations extending transversely of the corrugations of the back, the sides of'said strengthening'so member adapted to be folded, whereby said member is substantially triangular in cross section and means to secure said strengthening means in folded osition, the upper securing means also adapted to be extended and secured around the upper portion of the strengthening back and the folded end of the receptacle.

5. In a clothing delivery envelop, a receptacle having a relativcly stil'f back secured thereto, sald receptacle and back having apertures therethrough and having a slit connecting the apertures, supporting means, for the receptacle and back comprising at loop extending into. the receptacle throi1ghi ,105 the apertures and slit and completely closingi i the apertures and rendering the receptaclel (lust proof, and a clothes hanger within the} receptacle; and in engagement with said loopf of the supporting means. i
