Be it known that I, ALFRED T. CHANNELL, a subject of the King of Great Britaimand a resident ofthe city of Chicago, county of Cook, and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Mops, of which the following is a specication.

My invention relates to mops and particularly to the class of mops which is provided with a permanent head rigidly secured to a handle and the object of my improvement is to provide a device of this character which will be simple of construction and eiiioient in operation.

Other objects will appear hereinafter.

The invention consists in the combinations and arrangements of parts hereinafter described and claimed.

The invention will be best understood by reference to the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification, and in which- Figure 1 is a longitudinal section of a mop built in accordance with my invention, and- Fig. 2 is aview, in perspective, of such a mop.

The preferred form of construction as illustrated in the drawing, comprises a mop proper made up of'mop strands 3 secured transversely between the inner lining 4 and the outer fabric 5. The mop strands 3 are secured between the lining4 and the outside fabric 5 by means of stitchings 6, then they are bent longitudinally of such lining and outside fabric 5 and furnished wit the stitching 7 to form a frame holding'loop as clearly indicated in the drawing. In such loop is secured triangularly shaped frame 8. The ends of such frame 8 are not joinedV in order to permit of adjusting the vmop fabric in the position indicated in the drawings. 0n the inner side ofthe outer fabric, mop strands and inner lining 4 are pro, vided eyelets 9 to afford a means for attaching the handle to such frame portion 8.

necting members 13 by means of bolts 14 and such members 13 are rigidly secured to the U-shaped member 10 by means of rivets 15 as clearly illustrated in the drawings.

The mop is formed in substantially triangular shape in order to rovide such a device which can be used 1n cornersy and other places where it is difficult to reach with a square or round mop. Such mop head may be removed from the U-shaped member 10 by unscrewing the screws 11 and a new head secured to the handle when the old one has worn out, when it is so desired. While I have illustrated and described the `preferred form of constructionfor carryin my invention into effect, this is capableo variation and modification without departingl from the spirit of the invention. I, therefore, do not wish to be limited. to the exact details of construction set forth, but desire to avail myself of such variations and modifications as come Within the scope `of .the appended claims.

Having described my invention what I claim as new and desire to. secure by Letters Patent is: 1. A mop comprising a triangul'arly /shaped frame having its ends separated at one of its angular portions; mop material on said frame; a U-shaped member having its bight portion secured to one side of said triangularly shaped frame and Ifits ends'secured to the ends of such frame; and a handle rigidly secured to said U-shaped member, substantially as described.
