'Bhe Schedule referred to ln these Letters Patent and making part o! the same.
I, CHARLES 1. Ss'ow, of Freeport, in` the county of Stephenson and Stateof Illinois,4 have inventedv certain Improvements in Broom-Holders, of which the followingis a specification,
.Nature and Oly'ects of tleiwention. The nature of my invention relates "to a simple de rice, which may be easily secured to the wall. or other suitable part of `the house, and is provided with a spring, so'nrrnnged 'that the end'of a broom-handle can he `easily and conveniently slipped under the yoked central part, where it will he held suspended from the door until it isrlesiredto remore it, when it may be quiekiy `and easily-detached, all as hereinafter fully described. y
l Description of the Accoinpanyin-g Drawing. ivure Vis a i ers )ective view of m invention {shown `attached to the wall.
Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view of fig. 1. l
General` pescm'ption. y A represents the hack `or frame, and may he formed of any suitable material, metal or wood.
It ispierced witha-holc, a, through which a screw fpasses for attaching it tothe wall.
In addition to the screw, a tongue, a', is formed, projecting from the rear side and lower part of the `frame A, which, tongue `may be driven into` the wall .i'or `the additional securitythereto of the frame A `without'the addition `of expense `for procuring or trouble of inserting otherscrews.
The frame A is heart or f shield-shaped.
sired. v lts central part iscut away, as shown in the drawing, and projcctihgfrom its outer face are vertical however, be made in any fanciful or Iplain form de- It may,
anges B B, curvedv on their adjacent facesl to correspond with the side of an ordinary broom-handle. v
G is a wire spring, the ends of which are formed into spirals, as plainly shown in the drawing, and pass through andare riveted in holes D D, pierced through the plate A for their recept-ion. v
The central part of the wire C is curved upward or outward over the flanges B B,'in the form of an inverted lett-er U. ,f l y E E are siots, cnt in the frame Anutside of the Bauges B B, in which the spirals of the spring G rest.
rlhe operation lof my invention is deemed simple from an inspect-ion of the drawing.-
'lhe frame A being placed in the desired position, a
tap with a hammer will drive the tongue a into the wall. The screw may then be inserted through the hole a. holding all secure. Now, by raising the U- shaped part of the spring G, the end ot' the broom handle may be easily inserted beneath it, and will hold the broom securely suspended-from the floor.
The flanges B B, embracing the sides of the broomhandle, prevent the broom from vibrating on swinging, lhe` tongue a prevents 4the vibration of the plate A on the screw, through the hole nl` When desired, the broom-handle may be. easilywithdrawn.
