Description
PETER FUNK ANDJo. NICODEMUS BAADER, orBUFFALo, NEW YORK.'
Leners Parent No. 103,037, dated May 17, 1870.
IMPROVE!) INSEGT-TRAP.
The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the name We, PETER FUNK and Jo. Nrconn'irus BAADER, both of the cityv of Buffalo, county of Erie und State of New York, have made certain Improvements in Insect-Traps, of' which the following is a specification. v
The nature of our invention consists in constructing a machine or trap for the killing of' insects, so arranged that, when the trap-board B is set, the sume will have to be disengaged from the snap-bolt or trigger H, bythe attendance of a person, viu order tol catch and kill the insects that may be' within reach of the trap-board B. The tra-pf-board B, when disengaged from the trigger H, to sweep over the case or hait-plate A, in order to drive the insects into the killing-pit or case, where the same are crushed by the blow of the trap-board B. We refer to the drawing and letters of reference marked thereon making part of this specification, and which shows our invention more fully.
Letter A, in the drawing, represents the base-board. 'lhe same is provided with a number of small troughs for the purpose of receiving the bait, and is of segmental sliztpe.
To the buse-board A is secured a killing-pit or case, marked D. Said killing-pit is provided with a hinged bottom, E, and also with a trap-board, B, which is also hinged to the same, and with Vtwo blade-springs F, which are acting upon trap-board B, :is plainly seen in the drawing. Y
A post, G, is secured to the bait-plate, and is provided with a snap-bolt, H. Said bolt is surrounded by a coiledspring which acts upon bol't H. To the bolt is secured a string for ,the purpose of disengnging the trap-bozud B .from the holt by pulling on said string.
The trap-boardBis provided 4on the end with a catch blade-springLI, which engages with the bolt H,
as plainly illustrated.
It will be observed that the trap-board B, in the position as'represeuted in the drawing, is set, 'and may, at any time,.by pulling on the string secured to' bolt H, be made to deal the blow upon the bottomboard E, when the same is in its proper position; that is, when the same is brought iua position so as Ato come iiush with pit or apartment D. When the bottom board E is in the position as represented in the drawing, the insects which were killed-by the blow of thetrap-board B may he removed from the bottomboard E. i v
twill also be observed that, iu order to set the trap, the board E lhas to be brought in its proper position, and the trap-leo nd B has to, be engaged with the snap-bolt H.
Claim.
Having thus fully described our invention,
What we claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is- V The construction and arrangement of the baseboard A with corrugators, in combination with the trap-board B, the killing department D, the trapboard E, the catch I, and bolt H, all to operate as described, and for the uses set fort-h.
