Letters Patent No. 104,7
7G, dated June 1870.
IMPROVEMENT IN :nombre-MACHINES.
www
,A The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
To all whom 'it may concern.- y
13e it known that LALvn C. SAwrn, of Canton, in the county of St. Lawrence, in the State of YNew York, have invented an improved Tailors Pressir, 1; Machine and I do hereby declare that the following is a true, full, and exact description thereof,
reference being had to. the accompanying drawings and to the letters of reference marked thereon.
The nature of myimprovement consists in rendering tailors pressing machines more simple, cheaper,-
and, at the same tinic, more effectual. Figure 1 isa perspective view; and Figure 2 apart Sectional end view, showing my inode Vol raisingthe pressing-arm and goose.
i its underside, clamping the ball D, thus forming a ball and socket-joint between the jointed arm L S and tbegoose 0, which enables the goose to be readily turned in'any direction by taking hold of the part M of its handle.
H is the press-board to lay the. work upon.
Underneath the table is a weighted lever, I, pivoted at K, W representing the weight. The frontend of the lever is connected by the rod E to the treadle-lever at T. The weight \V should be suioient, by any adjustment, to raise the goose clear of the board H,'Or to balance it. 'lo bring pressure upon the goose it is only necessary to press upon the foot N of the lever, its several joints above the table allowing perfect control of the goose. y
-Having lthus described my inventionl \Vhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is-
The combinationof the pivoted treadle-lever R N, jointed arm L S, goose O, with its ball and socketshown and described.
