Be it known that I, BRooKs I-I. TUNE, a citizen of the United States, residing at Sherman, in the county of Grayson and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Shade-Roller Brackets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to window-shade brackets; and its object is to provide a device of this character which is adjustable t0 shades and windows of different widths, also attachable to window casings at any desired point, without the use of screws or nails commonly employed at the present time for securing curtain-fixtures to the casings of Windows.
The invention also consists of certain other novel features of construction and combinations of parts which will be hereinafter more fully described, and pointed out in the claim.
Reference is to be had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which similar letters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views.
In said drawings, Figure l, is a front elevation showing the invention applied to the casing of a window; Fig. 2, is a top plan view of the device; and Fig. 3 is a detail view of one of the shade hangers.
Referring to the figures, A, A1, are overlapping metal bars or strips, both being flat so that one can slide upon the other. The inner bar A1, carries a sleeve B at its inner end constituting a guide for the other bar, whereby the two are slidably bound together, permitting of longitudinal adjustment. It is provided with a series of longitudinally arranged round perforations C, through which a hook D, formed on the inner end o-f bar A is adapted to enter, and by which, with the perforations C, approximate adjustment to the widths of windows is attained. The other end of the bar A has an outwardly bent portion E, and a clamping bar F carries a similar outwardly proj ection F1, both projections being perforated and joined by a bolt Gr, for connecting the adjacent ends of the two bars. The outer end of bars A1, and F are bent to provide inwardly projecting clamping-jaws H, said jaws being adapted to be securely forced against, or into the edges of the window casings by the bolt Gr, which serves to bind both in adjusted position, as shown in Fig. 2, and thereby rigidly connecting the fixture to the window without the aid of nails or screws.
Each of the said bars A1, and F carries a sleeve I sliding thereon, each sleeve carries a shade hanger I1, and it will be understood that these hangers are adapted to receive and hold the ordinary construction of spring roller now in use.
'In fastening the herein-described device to the casings of a window, the bars A1, and F are adjusted longitudinally, so that the jaws I-I thereof will loosely contact the outer casings; the parts can then be tightened in adjusted position by means of the bolt G. The sleeves I may then be adjusted so as to bring the shade hangers I1, at desired dist-ances apart to fit the shade-roller.
The preferred form of the invention has been outlined and set forth in the foregoing description; but I do not limit myself thereto, as I am aware that modifications may be made therein without departing from the spirit or sacrificing the advantages thereof, and I therefore reserve the right to make such changes as fairly fall within the scope of the claim.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A shade-roller bracket, consisting of an inner and outer bar slidably joined by a sleeve on the former; said inner bar carrying a slidably mounted shade hanger and provided with a series of round perforations spaced in horizontal alinement; and its outer end provided with an inwardly projecting clamping-jaw; the outer bar having a hook formed on it-s inner end adapted to enter said perforations in the inner bar, for their approximate horizontal adjustment, and an outwardly projecting lug at the other end; forcing the respective jaws securely against together with a clamping bar carrying a the outer edges of the window casings.V 10 slidable shade hanger, an inwardly project- In testimony whereof I aiix my signature ing clamping-jaw at its outer end, and an in presence of two witnesses.
