To all wiz-om it may concern:
Be it known that I, CARL F. SCHULZ, citi-- loperated through the instrumentality of a lever fulcrumed intermediate of its ends within the carbureter casing.
The present i-nvention has for its primary object an improved construction oi' carbu-A reter of this character embodying means whereby the fulcrum pointof said lever may be shifted or adjusted in two dimensions so that such point may be varied, within certain limits in anydirection or to any desired position, while at the same time, no matter what the adj ustment may be, the fulcrum point is always in line with the pivots at the extremities of the lever.
The invention has for a further object mechanism of the character indicated in the preceding paragraph, so constructed and arranged that the two adjustments of the ful Crum point, that is, the adjustment toward and from either pivot point and in a direo tion substantially at right angles thereto, are absolutely independent of ea ch other.
The invention also has for an object mechanism ot' this character and for this purpose which is so constructed and arranged that the fulcrum point will be held in its adjusted position without any independent locking mechanism. And the invention further aims to generally improve this class of devices and to simplify them and to render them more useful. and commercially desirable.
YVith these and other objects in view as will more fully appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists incertain constructions, arrangements and combina-- tions of the parts that l shall hereinafter fullydeseribe and claim. j For a full understanding ol" the invention, reference is to be had to the Jfollowing description and accompanying` drawings, in which:

The arm l5 of the bell crank i3 is mount.- ed between and in engagement with shoulders 1Q- that are vformed on an adjustment screw 2O which works within a threaded bearing Q1 formed on the casing l, so that by turning the screw 20, the bell crank 13 each other and the fulcrum remaining in adjusted position without the necessity of employing separate locking means therefor. -It
' will also be 'seen that, whateverthe adjustment, the tulcrum is always in line with the pivots at the extremities oi the lever 9.l In the present embodiment ot the. device, the lever 9 shifts with its tulcrum, the ends of said lever being inserted underneath and in engagement with rollers that are carried by pivot pins 22 and 23, carried by the air admission valve 4l and fuel valve 3, respectively. Preferably, a leaf spring 24 is secured to the underside of the lever 9, the two free ends of said spring serving to maintain-the lever always in contact with the pivots and for taking up wear.

From the foregoing description in connection with the accompanying drawing, the operation of my improved carburetor and particularly the iiulcrum point adjusting means, will be apparent, the same having been described inconnection with the construction and relative arrangement of parts.
It is to be understood that while the accompanying drawing shows what I believe to be the preferred embodiment of my invention, the invention is not necessarily limited thereto as various changes may be made in the cnstruction, arrangement and proportions of the parts without departing from the scope of the invention as defined in the amended claims.
Having thus described the invention, what is claimed as new is:
1. A carbureter including an air valve, a fuel valve, and alever operatively connected to said valves and having its fulcrum relatively fixed with relation to the lever, said fulcrum and lever being shiftable in two dimensions.
2. A carbureter embodying an air valve, a fuel valve, and a lever operatively connect ed to said valves and 4vhaving a relative fixed fulcrum, said fulcrum and lever being shiftable with its fulcrum in two dimensions.
3. A- carburetor including an air valve, a fuel valve, a lever operatively connected to said valves and fulcrumed intermediate of its ends, the fulcrum of said lever being relatively fixed and means for moving the lever and fulcrum point in two dimensions and holding the same in adjusted position.
4. A carburetor including a casing, anair valve and a fuel valve in said casing, a lever interposed between said valves and fulcrumcd intermediate ot its ends, said fulcrum having a fixed relation to the lever, and means located on the outside of the casing for moving the fulcrurn point and said lever in vtwo dimensions.
5. A carbureter, including an air valve, a fuel valve, a lever fulc'rumed intermediate of its ends and operatively connected to said valves, a plate to' which the ulcrum of said lever is connected, a lever on which said plate is longitudinally adjusted, and ineans for moving said last named lever.V
6. A carbureter, including an air valve, a fuel valve, a casing in which the same are mounted, the casing being formed with an opening, a plate disposed against the casing at said opening and provided with a f ulf crum pin, a lever fulcrumed intermediateof; its ends on said pin, and operatively connected to said valves, a bell crank fulcrumed on the casing, said plate being longitudinally adjustable on one arm of said bell crank, and means connected to the other arm of said bell crank for shifting the latter,

A carbureter including an'air valve, a fuel valve, a casing in which said valves are mounted, the casing being formed with an opening, a plate applied to the side of the carbureter casing at said opening, a bell crank fulcrumed on said casing, an adjustment screw swiveled on one arm of said bell crank and working in said plate, an adjustment screw mounted on the casing and operatively engaging the other arm of said bell crank, the plate being provided with a fulcrum pin extending into the carburetor casing through said opening, and a lever tulcrulned on said pin and operatively connected to said valves.
8. A' carbureter ii'icluding a casing, provided vvith an air passage, air and fuel valves mounted in said casing, the casing being formed with an openingY entering said passa'ge,. a' plate applied to the carburetercasing over said opening and formed with a screw threaded bore, abell crank fulcrumed on the casing, an adjustment screw swiveled on one arm of said bell crank and working in the threaded bore of saidv plate, another adjustment screw Working on the casing andV operatively engaging the other arm of said bell crank, and a finger carried by the casing and pressing against said plate to hold its end on said pin and operatively connected to said valves, the fulcrum piri'of said lever being always maintained sub-- It Si il stantially in alinement with the pivot points between said lever and said valves, a bellcrank fulcrumed n the casing, said plate being longitudinally/ adjustable on one arm of said bell-crank, and means connected to the other arm of said. bell-crank for shifting the latter.
10. A oarbureter, including a casing formed with a primary air passage, a fuel valve mounted in said passage, the casing being formed with ports distinct from said p"mary air passage, an air admission valve mounted inthe casing and controlling said ports, a lever mounted in the casing and operatively7 connected to the fuel valve and air admission valve, said lever having a fulcrum relatively xedin relation to the lever and supporting the lever intermediate of its ends, said lever and its fulcrum being shift# able in two dimensions.
