Be .it known that re-HENRY'G. Lu'rnnn, `of the city and county of .Frei/"idonee, in the Stateof Rhode Island, and `(JELlus E. RICHARDS, of North Attleborongh, in the county of Bristol and State oi Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Improved* 1"'cturc-Knob;` and wcldo hereby declare that the following specification, taken inconnection with the drawing making a part of the same, is a full, clear, and cxact description thereof. y

Thefront endof the hole for the screw should be countcrsunk, so as to allow the head oi' the screw to cnterthe body part of thc knob, and not project beyond its face.
.In the end of the knob,.and concentric with the hole for the screw, `an annular groove, a, is cut, which may p well be, as shown in the drawing, an extension inward of `the groove which separates the ornamental mold- I ing C from the central portion of the knob.

The cap is to be inserted in the head of the knob,

The knob is to be secured to the wall in the usual way, and the capcan be readily inserted by a slight pressure. It can be removed easily by thc aid of the point of a knife-blade, whenever desired to change the knob.
NVhat we claim as our invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, isy rfhe improvement in the construction of picture-` nails, which consists in the combination of thc ornamental cap F with the head A of the nail, when the flanged rim of the former is inserted in the groove u of the latter, substantially as herein described.
