Referring to the draWings, 1, represents a portion cf th e d001' jamb of a refrigerating apartment, und 2, a portion 01 the d001 thereof. Mounted upon t he dem: is a plate 3, provided with tw0 out-wardly projecting lugs 4:, in which is journaled a rqck-shaft whose axis substantially parallel-to the general plane of the d001. 'Said rock-shaft is provided with a spring 6, one end 0f which is connected therewith, the o-ther end being attached t0 a convenientfixed momber, such as the lug 4, in such manner that turning 0f the rock-sha-ft in a given dir'ection shall be resisted by the tens'1o n 0f the spring. depressed, whereupon the link 8,- Will be thrown downward, thus depressing the lever arm-7, and turning therockshaft 5, so as to raise the locking arm 10, and throw its pin 11, a nd roller 12, clear of the abrupt surface 17, ab the rear portion of the incline. Thereuponthe roller can travel down the face 0f the inclirie 13, in correspondence with the opening 0f the d0or.
Kferring to the modified forn'n shown in Fig. IV, the construction of the locking arm in,order to open it, the handle 27, is thrown outward ancl downward, its plane ofrotation bein'g transverse t0 the general plane of the door, instead of being-parallel thereto, as was the plane-cf rotation of the handle 9. In this-modified form- 0f the device, the parts are shown only capable of manual operation fro m bne side 0f the door.

In a fastener of the kind described, the combination of a roch shaft adapted t0 rotate upon an axis .subSt-antially parallel t0 the general plane of the door, an arm, a latch pin carried by the arm, a roller mountecl 011 said latcl1 pin, a stationary keeper having an inclined front surface aclaptecl t0 en gage saicl latch pin, the direction 0f sald inclined surface being awa v from the plane of movement of the axis 0f the rock shaft, as the parfs approach one another in the elasing of the door, a spring normally tencling t0 fhrow the crank arm towarcl the plane ef movement, a lever carried by the (leer ancl movable in a plane parallel t0 the axis o1 said first-named rock shaft, an arm carried by the rock shaft, and a link pivored at one end t0 said arm, and ab its other end t0 said lever, a cross shaft extencling through the door to which said lever is attached, ancl a second lever carriecl by the'other end 0f the cross shaft.
