MACHINE FOR EXPRESSING OLEAGINOUS MATERIAL AND THE LIKE.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 26, 1912.
Application filed June 3, 1912. Serial No. 701,357.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, EUGEN ZANDER, a subject of the King of Prussia, resident of 6 Hagenstrasse, Stettin, in the German Empire, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Machines for Expressing Oleaginous Material and the Like, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to certain improvements in machines for expressing oleaginous material and the like of the type in which the material is expressed between two concentric and perforated cylinders by a vertically movable press, the expressed oil escaping through the perforations in the cylinders. It has been found in such machines, even when the best steel is employed, that there is a tendency of the steel at the inner edges of the openings to crack or break off which has hitherto necessitated renewal of the entire inner or outer cylinder.
The object of the present invention is to obviate the foregoing defects and for this purpose the openings in the outer and inner cylinder are provided on the inner walls of the cylinders with removable blocks of suitable material which are let into recesses concentric with the openings in the cylinders, these blocks being provided with fine apertures for the escape of the expressed oil.
In order that the invention may be more clearly understood, reference is made to the accompanying drawings, whereon:
Figure 1 is a vertical sectio-n through such parts of a press as are necessary for my invention to be understood, Fig. 2 is a transverse section on the line A-B of Fig. 1.
a represents the reduced end of the inner cylinder or substantially cylindrical body and 7) represents the outer cylinder or sub stantially cylindrical body, the reduced inner cylinder (1 being provided with perforations 0 and the outer cylinder I) being provided with similar perforations c. The perforations 0 and c are provided with concentrio recesses cl and cl respectively, in which blocks 9 are adapted to be fitted, provided with fine apertures f for the escape of the expressed oil. It will be seen that, should the material near the apertures f crack or break off, the blocks 9 can be readily removed and renewed without excessive cost.
I claim 1. A machine for expressing oleaginous material and the like, comprising perforated inner and outer cylinders, an intermediate movable press, recesses in the perforations of said cylinders and perforated renewable blocks in said recesses.
2. A machine for expressing oleaginous material and the like, comprising two perforated members, an intermediate movable press, recesses in the inner walls of said members and concentric with the perforations in said members, and perforated renewable blocks in said recesses.
3. A machine for expressing oleaginous material and the like, comprising perforated inner and outer cylinders, an intermediate movable press, recesses in the inner walls of said cylinders and concentric with said perforations, and perforated renewable blocks in said recesses.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two witnesses.
EUGEN ZANDER.
