Be it known that I, Aoonrrr FRIEDMAN, a citizen of thel United States, residin'g'at Fort Worth, in the county of Tar-rant and State of- Texas, have invented, certain new and useful Improvements -in Watches, of which the following is a, specification.-

My invention relates to watch cases and more particularly to interchangeable watch cases, and the obJectistO provide means n connection with -watch cases by which a smaller sized works can be mounted in a larger sized casing andvice versa where a watch case is already equipped with the im- The advantage is that the works of'a' watchcan be mounted in casings of different sizesl' The advantage to merchantsis that it will notbe necessary to carry so many sizes of watch cases in stock and the works can be mounted in a casing of the casing so that a purchaser will not have to wait until a casing can be ordered.

Figure 1 is a view the works of a watch, removed and only the frame of the works being shown. Fig. 2 lS a diagonal section of the watch frame and covers and the improved attachments. Fig. 3 is a face view of one of the interchangeable rings. Fig. 4: illustrates the construction of the stem extension, being views of both ends and a longitudinal section. Figs. 5 and 6 are plan and edge views respectively of an extension for lever-set watches.

Similar characters of reference are used to indicate the same parts throughout the several views.

A watch case of ordinary construction is shown. The casing has the main frame 1 3 screwed on the frame 1. The cover shown for the front of the watch consists of the bezel 4 and the glass cover 3, the bezel bein screwed on the :Erame 1. In the back of t e watch is mounted a ring which has on the outer face an interior annular shoulder 5 for supporting the works of the watch. The screws 11 bind the ring -6' on the works and the ring 6 is clamped on the case 1 because the ring-8 is on the other side of the case 1 and the screws against the ring 8 and thus clamp ring 8 on the opposite side of the case 1 fromli and thus rings 6 and 8 and the works and the case 1 are all bound together by the screws 11. The rings 6 and 8 are thus supplemental frames and make it feasible and practicable to interchange watch cases with works of'difierent sizes. A fiat protecting ring' ll is provided to cover the joint between the'ring 8 and the dial 13. The ring 12 is held in place by the bezel 4. An extension 14 for the watch stem is provided for use where the works mounted in a case are of a smaller size than the size of the case. 1. The combination with a watch case and its works of supplemental frames, one supplemental frame being mounted on and engaging the back part of the watch case engaging the works and one supplemental frame being mounted on and engaging the front part of the works and held thereon by the works and the works of the watch being supported and carried in said supplemental frames.
