Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom t may concern: Be it known that I, CYRUs L. .BUNDY, a citizen of the United States, residing in Kingsland, in the county of Bergen and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Draft-Rigging, of which the following is, a specification.
`My invention relates to improvements in friction draft rigging for railway cars.
This application is a division of my original application Serial No. Z98,824, liled May 2s, 1909.
My invention also consists in the novel construction of parts and devices and in the novel combination of parts and devices herein shown and described land more particularly specified in the claim.

In the drawing A represents the center or draft sills of the car to which the draft rigging is applied, A1 the front sill and A2 the carrier iron. I
B is the coupler draw-bar, B1 the draft yoke and B2 the filler block at the rear end of the draft yoke, the same being preferably furnished with downwardly and rearwardly projecting supporting arms t which rest upon the removable tie plate C and thus support the rear end of the draft rigging.

F F are the followers, the front one abutting directly against the` rear end of the draw-bar and the rear one abutting directly against the draft yoke or the ller block B1 therein, if one isemployed. The followers F F have each oppositely inclined or wedgeing faces f f, the portipn of each follower upon which the wedge faces j being preferably inte al with the portion of the follower whic engages the draft members D. The depending connecting rods K extend through the upper and lower friction blocks F F1 and I .the upper and lower spring seats or bearing plates H? H1 at the ends thereof and fit astride the springs. These connecting rods or bolts K are' provided with heads K1 at their upper ends and threaded nuts K2 Ka and a cotter VK1 at their lower ends.
As in my invention it is only the wedge faced followers and upper and lower friction blocks which fit within the draft yoke and as the spring is an upright or depending one arranged below the draft yoke, it will be readily seen by those skilled inthe art that my improved draft 'rigging is not l only very short and compact but also very accessible and capable of being easil. and quickly removed and replaced and a so of exceedingly simple construction and capable of being manufactured at small cost.
