The Schedule referred to in these Letters Patent and making part of the same.
Be a known that I, MARGARET WHITE, of i samtogaSprings, in the county of VSaratoga and in the State ot New York, have invented certain new and useful Im` provements in Combined Ironing-Table and Bureau;
and dohereby declare that the following isa full,
clear, and exact description `thereof,reference being had to the accompanying drawing and to the letters of i reference marked thereOmmaking apart of this speci .ificatioin .e r The nature of myinvention consists in the construction and; arrangementof -afcombined ironing"-table and bureau, as will be hereinafter fully set forth.
In order to enable others skilled in the art towhich my inventionv,appertains` to make and use thesame,
I will now proceed to describe its construction and operation,` referring' to the annexed drawing, in
which- Figure 1 is aperspective view from the front, and Figure 2 is a perspective -view from the back of my device.
A represents'the frame of my device, made` of any suitable material, and of "anytd-imensions desired. It `is made in the shape of a bureau with frontand ends,
but the hack is composed of'` two doorsior wings, BB,
ends and opening outward from the center.
At about the-,center runningr longitudinally ini the frame or shell'A, is a `vertical partition, O, in front of which are-formeddrawers,D D. Above these drawers is a horizontal partition, above which is an ironulg-board, E, hinged at one end, as shown.
In rear of the partition C, between it and the wings B B, is an open space, at `thetopof which, at the upper edge" of` shell, is hinged another larger ironingboard, G.
The whole is 4covered, by or top, H, so hung `with double-acting hinges, as to be turned under side up, for the purpose o fY ironing large articles of` clothing, such' as sbeets,\\table4spreads, pillows-cases, and
` other articleswhichwould require thebroad side of a table to iron them on. y
YVhen used for this purpose, the top His inverted' and supported by the wings B B at the back of the table, arranged for the purpose of holding it, the hinges to be so constructed as to allow the lid to be suspended at the back when the ironing-board G-is required for use. `This board is so arranged as to be used for ironing skirts, dresses, Sac., which will be protectedfrom coming in contact with the oor or the persons feet,.while ironing, by hanging down between the partition C and wings B B, there being a bottom-board in the shell A.
