To all whom t may concern;
Be it known that I, HARRY E. BAILEY, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Albany, in the county of Albany and State of New York, have invented a new and Improved Coil-Protector, of which fthe following is a full, clear, and exact description.

The object of the invention is to provide a new and improved coil protector arranged to protect the coil in the refrigerator cabi net or casing against injury when packing ice into the opening of the coil and around the coil within the said cabinet..
For the purpose mentioned use is made of a base for the coil to rest on, a top cap having inner and outer spaced walls for receiving between them the upper end of the coil, and supporting rods on the base supporting the cap independently of the coil.
practical embodiment of the invention is represented in the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specication, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both views.
Figure 1 is a side elevation partly in section of the coil protector as applied to a coil arranged in the refrigerating cabinet of a bar; and Fig. 2 is an enlarged perspective view of the coil protector in position on the coil.
The refrigerating coil A, as shown in Fig. l, is arranged within a cabinet or a casing forming part of a bar counter or a like fixture C, and the lower end A of the coil A is coupled or otherwise fastened to a supply pipe D leading to a beer barrel or other liquid supply under pressure to cause the liquid to flow through the coil A. The upper end A2 of the coil A is connected with a faucet E arranged on the outside of the cabinet B to permit of drawing the beer or other liquid whenever it is desired to do so. The coil A is supported at its bottom on a base F provided with upwardly-extending rods G supporting a cap H provided with outer and inner walls H, H2 spaced apart and depending from a rounded-oli top H3, as plainly indicated in the drawings, the said walls H and H2 receiving between them the upper or last convolution of the coil A without the cap H being supported on the coil. The outer wall H is provided refrigerators such end A2 of the coil A. The b atene side with an opening H4 for the free passage of the end A2 and a flange H5 extends integrally from the outer wall H over the end A2 so` as to protect the same, it being understood that the flange H5 is at the up per end of the opening H4. A rubber washer I is interposed between the base F and the bottom of the coil A, and a similar washer or lining J is arranged inside of the H so as to prevent the direct Vcontact of the capl H with thetop convolution of the ase F is provided with rubber-covered retaining lugs K fitting against the inner surface of the lowermost convolution of the coil A to hold the latter in central position on the base and against sidewise displacement.
In practice the supporting rods G are extended a distance below the base F to form legs with a view to support the protector from the bottom of the cabinet- B, and the-lower ends of the rods G are preferably fastened to the base F by nuts while the upper ends of the said rods are riveted to apertured lugs H6 forming integral parts of the outer wall H of the cap J. It is expressly understood that` the cap H is independently supported from the base F of the coil A and hence the bartender or other person packing ice into the cabinet B around the coil A and into the opening thereof is not liable to injure the coil A as the same is protected on top by the cap H, which latter can stand pounding when forcing the ice into the opening of the coil. It is further understood that the crushed ice is packed as solidly as possible in the cabinet B and in the opening of the coil so as to last a long time, without requiring refilling with ice. By having the washers I and J interposed between the metal parts, that is, the base F and the bottom of the coil A and the cap H and the top of the coil said parts are not liable to corrode or oxidize as the rubber washer is interposed between the metal parts and hence the latter do not contact.
Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
l. A coil protector, comprising a base for the coil to rest on, a cap having outer and inner spaced walls for receiving between them the upper end of the coil, the outer wall having an opening for the passage of the end of the coil and the said outer wall of the coil.
Aend of the coil, supporting rods extending having an integral protecting flange extending over the said end of the coil to protect the saine, and supporting rods on the base and supporting the said cap independently of the coil.
2. A coil protector, comprising a base for the coil to rest on, a cap having outer and inner spaced walls for receiving between thein the upper end of the coil, a rubber washer interposed between the base and the bottom of the coil, a similar washer arranged inside of the cap to prevent the direct contact of the cap with the upper end of the coil, and supporting rods on the base and supporting the said cap independently 4L. A coil protector, comprising a base for inner spaced walls Jfor receiving between them the upper end of the coil, and supporting rods extending upwardly from the base and supporting' the said cap independextending below the base to forni legs for supporting the protector.
5. A coil protector, comprising a base 'for the coil to rest on, a cap having oute.` and inner spaced walls for them the upper end of the coil, means for supporting the said cap troni the base, the outer Vall of said cap having an opening for the passage of the upper end of the coil,
3. A coil protector, comprising a base foi; the coil to rest on, a cap having outer and inner spaced walls connected at the top, and adapted to receive between them the upper upper part of the outer wall of said cap, and extending over the said upper end oi the coil to protect the saine.
