By the use of my use a saw after it has been broken perhaps a number of times, and the invention has among its objects the production of a simple, convenient, inexpensive, efficient and satisfactory device of the kind described for use wherever found applicable.

To this end my invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and comA bination of parts herein shown and .described, and more particularly pointed out in the claims. v

The body part is preferably bent as shown at 12 and at 13 so that the saw blade when inserted between the extensions or bent `parts 12 and 13 vandthe body part `will be'pi'evented from 4moving transversely cr falling over. Any `suitable means may be employed for maintainingA the tivoparts against separation, a suitable screw 14 being shoivnfor the purpose. The body part and extension 13 are preferably offset as at 16 and 17, a suitable hole l5 being provided so that the full thickness of metal is present- Y after 'the extension 13 is bent into position and the parts tapped for the screwlfl.` It

vvill thus be seen that the device is not Weakeiied by cutting the threads. The metal blank maybe punched out and formed into the finished product in any suitable or preferred manner. In operation the saw blade is inserted as shown and the screw 14; tightened the preferred manner, as shown by providing a suitable hole'lS in the extension 1-1, so that the same may be hooked or positioned on the pin S). I also preferably roughen the bottom of the holder either before or after` the device is fully formed so that the sav! teeth will be engaged and the saw blade be.,

'95 firmly, locking the sa'iv in the holder, the holder being then connected to the framein slightly offset to bring the saw in alinement with the frame. This is a matter of preference, however, as either part alone, o1" both, may be offset, depending upon the particular saw frame with which the device is used and the means of attachment of the holder to the same. The device not only permits the use of blades after they have been broken, thereby being very economical, but also often saves a trip to the shop for new blades if no unbroken ones are on hand.

In the forms shown in Figs. 6, 7 and 11, the holder is substantially the same except that the body part 20 is made of cast metal, or milled, instead of being formed as in the preferred construction.

In the form shown in Figs. 8, 9, 10 and 12 the body part 21 and the extension 22 are made substantially similar to the forms shownln Figs.` 7 and 11, that is, cast, but

Having thus`described my invention it is obvious that various immaterial modifications Inay be made in the form, arrangement,

What I claim as new and desire to Secure by Letters Patent is:

`1. A supplemental saw end holding device for hack saw frames, comprising a metal lber having a threaded engagement with the plate and bent port-ion thereof at said oth .sets and extended through the top flange in the plane of the saw blade, said plate provided with an extended part for attachment to the hack saw frame.

2. A supplemental saw-end holding device for hand `saw frames comprising a metal plate having meansat one end to engage one end of the saw frame and having .at the other end laterally projecting flanges folded back to t over the e`dges of a saw blade and having means to clamp th e blade in the plane thereof, the said plate being offset between its ends to bring-the saw blade engaging space into the same plane in which it would l ,lie if directly engaged with the saw frame. .lng the holder to the frame, or that, as isi..v
