l General Description.
A, roller or pivoted plate, with socket for p in its under side. l B, pivot to t the socketcast .on th'e under side of late A. This pivot is constructed so as to be driven utoa hole bored for it in the mortise, in which hole tis held firmly, and, inturn,"hold`s the plate; This iivot may be made convex, 85e., 'on its top side, to lit concavesocket on the under side of theplate, or in n'yyother4 form thatwillallowa rocking motion, 85e. n with said pivot or tion ot' pivot-end, with ion springend, with sing various ivot cast C, springused, in combinatie hinge, for the purpose of allowing the end of the plate and roller on which it is used to adjust itself to 'the space and pressure, 85o.
By having this spring of a good lengt-h, so as to throw the end ofthe plate well out, a sash can L@ in a window without removing the stops, by p one edge against the roller-plate, and compress back, so as to allow the sash to slip in' on the e side, Sac., when the spring will force it into its pr l position, and keep it there, till pressed back and taten.
