My invention relates to machines for sewingupholsteredror tufted pads or cushions, and consists in the mat-ters hereinafter described and then pointed out in the claims.

ln the drawings the reference letter A represents a suitable sewing mach-ineliead for sewing together the cover and backing and facing` materials along the edges of upholstered or tufted pads or cushions B, and (j is a frame or base upon which thc machine is supported.

The. letter D indicates a table or shelf which is horizontally arranged and adjust- Aably mounted upon the frame or base, bei-ng of approximately the length of the long side of an upholstered pad or cushion for automobile or couch constructions as the case may be. The table or shelf is suitably cut away at intervals along its length and rollers lll are suitably journalcd in the recesses formed by the cut away portions, the purpose of this construction being to support or carry the pads or cushions upon these rollers so that they may be more easily moiful thereon lengthwise of the table or shelf.

By means of the pivotal construction of the leaf, the shelf may be `adjusted laterally or toward and away from the frame, being held in adjusted l position by any suitable means such as the curved sector H secured to the leaf or table and passing through a bearing I in which it is held in adjusted position by means of a set screw K. .ln order to provide for the vertical adjustment of the table or shelf, the leaf is preferably provided vwith an adjustable section L which slides longitudinally on the leaf and is held in adjusted posit-ion by any suitable means as a pin M on the leaf adapted to enter any one of a series of holes in the adjustable section. In order togprovide for the angular adjustment or tilting of the table or shelf, the latter is supported by means of the curved bracket N which is adjustably held by P carried by the adjustable section L.

The supportfor the cushions is adjustable angularly in two planes at right angles to each other; by means of the vertical adjustment the table or shelf may be adjusted to and from the sewing machine head so that cushions or pads of various sizes may rest upon the table and have their edges brought into position to be operated upon by the machine, While by means of the angular adjustment the table may loe tilted or inclined more or less to the horizontal so that the cushion or pad is more readily and easily slid along the table to pass the needles of the sewing machine, and by means of the lateral adjustment the lower edge of the table may be adjusted more or less away from the frame of the machine so that the edges of the cover and backing to be sewed will be projected farther inward between the needles.

I claim 1.
