To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, EDWARD :KIRBY' with regard to certain more specific features thereof, to manifolding sales books particularly adapted for'ca-f or restaurant use.

One of the Jabjects of this invention is to provide an improved sales book of the above charactcrpermitting simultaneous use of a plurality of liv'e checks. 7

Another object is to provide a simple and practical book of the above character per-v mitting of ready manipulation.

Another object is to provide an improved form of continuously folded pad.

A further object is to provide a self-contained device of the above character which will be durable in construction and inexpensive to manufacture.

Other objects will be in part obvious and in part pointed out hereinafter.

The invention accordingly consists in the features of construction, combinations of elements and arrangement of parts which will be exemplified in the construction hereinafter set forth, and the scope of the application ofwhich will be indicated in the following claims.

In the accompanying drawing, wherein is shown one of various possible embodiments of this invention, Figure 1 is a perspective view of the book in operative position; Fig. 2 IS a central transverse sectional view of the a .book; and Fig. 3 is a central longitudinal sectional view of the book taken in closed posit-ion.

Referring nowto the accompanying drawing, particularly Fig. 1, there is shown at 1 a pad holder forming a rear cover upon which is removably mounted a pad 2. This pad 2 comprises a continuously folded web forming a plurality of original and duplicate leaves 3 and 4, respectively, each original .leafbeing carbonized on the back, as denoted by theheavy line .5, throughout the greater portion of its area. The pad is mounted or secured at one end to a loose back 6 adapted to be inserted in a pocket 7 in the cover 1 as shown in Fig. 3'. This back, which is preferably made of heavy paper, extends upwardly over one end of the pad and thence inwardly to lie beneath the upper set of leaves as indicated at 8, thereby providing a firm back when recording the transaction and also preventing the transaction from being reproduced upon the lower sets of leaves. I

Directly connected with the side and end edges of the pad are a plurality of relatively narrow strips 9 pasted to the edges of the sets of leaves for holding the leaves in normally connected and superimposed relation and preventing the pad from streaming or becoming unfolded when in use. As this strip contacts with only a small portion of the actual edge of each leaf, it will be seen that the leaf may be easily and quickly seized and detached.

A plurality of flaps 10 and 11 are flexibly connected with the cover 1, the latter flap acting as an upper cover for the book when in closed position as shown in Fig. 3. The flap 10 is provided on both ides, at its upper and lower edges, with poc ets 12. Similar pockets are also applied to the inside of the cover or flap 11. Each set of pockets is adapted to receive and hold a set of leaves when detached from the pad. As each set of leaves is provided with manifolding means, further entries upon these slips may be made from time to time as desired.

The book may be conveniently used in substantially the following manner: A waiter in a caf, for example, after inserting his own number and the table number in the ceives an order for the first course from the guest heis serving and enters the same at the top of the original leaf upon the pad. If he is subsequently required to wait upon a second guest, he removes the top' set of leaves by pulling the original upwardly and thence forwardly, and detaches the complete set from the pad along perforated lines 13 at the end of each leaf. He then inserts this set of leaves in the pockets provided on one side of one of the flaps. It is thus seen that this invention provides a simple and practical waiters check book adapted-to accomplish, among others, all of the objects and advantages above'set forth.
