Be it known that I, AMALIA H. NEUBERT, a citizen of the United States, residing at Chicago, in the county of Cool( and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Covers for Ironing- Boards, of which the following is a specification.

My invention relates to covers for ironing boards, and it consists of a cover adapted for boards of varying size and carrying with it means by which it may be quickly applied und eff etually secured to the board in a manner to completely cover it upon one side thereof and louve the ironing surface perfectly smooth; the object of my invention being to provide a cover ready for immediate and convenient application to the board and adapted for the varying Widths and lengths of the ironing boards customarily used.

ln accordance with my invention, I pro vide a cover of suiiicient extent to entirely inclose the obverse face of the board and pass over upon the reverse face of the same, and overla p a tongue or flap that is connected with the cover proper; the edges of th?l cover being provided with series offyeiet openings spaced apart in a manner to receive lacing cords whereby the cover and flap are secured upon the board, as hereinafter more fully explained, with reference to the accompanying drawings, in whichA Figure l represents a bottom plan View of my improved cover having the sides thereof unfolded and the ends folded over anv ironing board and with the flap in proper position; Fig. 2 is a bottom View of the ironing board with the cover secured thereto; Fig. 3 is a longitudinal section along line A-B of Fig. 2; and Fig. 4 is a cross section of Fig. 2 along line C--D The same reference numerals designate like parts throughout the several views.

l represents an ironing board having a common form, with one end of less width than the other. t

2 represents a oover having a greater length and width than the board and adapted to be folded around the edges and ends of the board, and provided with a series of eyelet openings 3 spaced apart along the edges of the cover in the directionof the length thereof, and other eyeleted openings 4,- spaced apart at the edge of one end of the cover and intermediate the sides thereof.

5 represents a Hap member having one end thereof secured to one end of the cover (preferably to that having the greatest width), and the opposite end thereof provided With a series of eyelet openings (i, corresponding with those in the adjacent end of the cover. x l 7 represents lacing cords that are secured by the -eyeleted openings, and when drawn taut operate to secure the cover and flap upon the board in a smooth and eiiicient manner. l

What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:

A cover for ironing boards having, in combination, eyes spaced apart along opposite edges and one end thereof, a flap having one end secured to one end of said cover and the opposite end thereof provided with eyes, the sides of the cover overlapping said flap, and lacing cords received by said eyes, and securing said flap and cover in operative position.
