TURN-TABLE.
Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, .AUoUs'r G. Enron- SON, a citizen of the United States, residing at Tecumseh, in the county of Johnson and State of Nebraska, and LAUREN D. FLETCHER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Yates City, in the county of Knox and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in 'l urn lables, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawings.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in turn tables, and more particularly to automobile turn tables adapted to be used in automobile garages, factories, etc. It has been heretofore proposed to construct turn tables upon a central ball-bearing with peripheral rollers or wheels. The weight of the turn table and its load is preferably carried for the most part by the central bearing and the peripheral rollers or wheels are used to prevent overdue tilting of the turn table, and if the load is properly balanced, are brought into play only incidentally. Turn tables of this character-i made of steel girders and plates, supported, chiefly at the center, have been unsatisfac-- tory and impracticable of their tendency under a load to sag and become distorted, and to bulge at the center in the vicinity of the central beam. It has also been found that a central ball-bearing is unsatisfactory, by reason of a slight tilting of the turn table which prevents the bearing from running through.
Themain object of the present invention is to overcome these objections and to otherwise improve the construction of turn tables of the above character.
Another object of the invention is to provide a turn table of this character which will possess advantages in points of efficiency and durability, is inexpensive to manufacture and at the same time is simple in construction and operation.
With the above and other objects in view the invention consists in the novel features of construction and the combination and arrangement of parts hereinafter more fully described, pointed out in the claims and shown in the accompanying drawings in which,

Referring more particularly to the drawfloor in which the turn table is to be placed, said pit being preferably lined with cement or concrete and slightly raised at the center thereof as shown at 2. Mounted upon the raised portion 2 is a base plate 3 which is held securely in place by means of the notched anchoring bolts 4, and upon which is mounted a cylindrical drum 5. The drum 5 is held securely in place by means of the angular plates 6 having one of their portions securely bolted to the base plate 3 by means of the bolts 7 the other or vertical portions of the plates 6 are securely riveted to the inner side of the drum 5. Arranged within the upper end of the drum and having their vertical portions securely riveted thereto are the angular brackets 8, having their horizontal portions extending inwardly toward the center of the drum and upon which is mounted the bearing plate 9 which is securely riveted to the horizontal portions of the brackets 8.
The bearing plate 9 is provided with a centrally arranged opening 10 in which is mounted the bearing pin 11. Mounted upon the pin 11 and arranged between the bearing plate 8 and the substantially circular connecting plate 12 is a washer 13. The connecting plate 12 is held securely upon the pin by means of the cotter pin 14: passing through the bearing pin 11 at a point directly above the connecting plate 12. Secured at their inner ends to the connecting plate 12 are the radially arranged T beams 15 having their outer ends secured, by means of the gussets 16, to the annular outer rim 1'? which is formed in two semicircular pieces of angle iron which are secured at their ends to the gussets 16.
Encircling the drum 5 and arranged in spaced relation therewith is a ring 18. Arranged in spaced relation with the ring 18 is an outer ring 19, said ring being suitably connected by means of the radially arranged rods 20 having one of their inner ends mounted in the ring 18 and held securely in place by means of the nuts 21 and having their outer ends disposed through openings ings, 1 1nd1cates a circular pit formed in the in the outer ring. Rollers 22 are mounted upon the outer ends of the rods 20 and adapted to be arranged between the upper and lower track rails 22, said lower rail being mounted in the bottom of the pit 1, and the upper track rail suspended from the lower sides of the T beams 15. Mounted upon every other one of the rods 20 at the inner ends thereof are the casters 23 which are adapted to travel upon the base plate 3.
From the above it will be readily apparent that the frame of the turn table will rotate upon the rollers 21 and the rollers will be held against lateral movement by means of the ring 18 which encircles the drum 5. The top of the turn table may be either constructed of wood, sheet iron or any other suitable material and is placed upon the T beams 15 and having its outer edge resting upon the sectional. rim 17. 111 placing the top of the turn table in position, the same will have to be made in sections so that it can be placed between the T beams and mounted upon the horizontal portions thereof so that each piece comprising the top will be flush with the top of the beams.
From the above description taken in connection with the drawings it will be readily apparent that we have provided a simple and durable turn table which will not sag or become distorted under the tendency of a load, which will not bulge at the center in the vicinity of the center bearing and at the same time will prevent any undue tilting of the table.
While we have shown and described the preferred form of our invention it will be obvious that various changes in the details of construction and in the proportions may be resorted to for successfully carrying our invention into practice without sacrificing any of the novel features or departing from the scope thereof.
What we claim is 1. In a device of the character described, the combination of a base plate, means for anchoring said plate, a cylindrical drum mounted upon said plate, means for securely fastening the drum on to the plate, angular brackets having their vertical portions secured to the inner side of the drum at the upper edge thereof, a bearing plate mounted upon the horizontal portions of said brackets, a bearing pin mounted in said bearing plate and a platform frame rotatably mounted upon said pin.
2. In a device of the character described, the combination of a base plate, means for anchoring said plate, a cylindrical drum mounted upon said plate, means for securely fastening the drum on to the base plate, angular brackets mounted in said drum at the upper edge thereof, a bearing plate mounted upon and rigidly secured to said brackets, a bearing pin mounted in the bearing plate, a platform frame rotatably mounted upon said pin, a ring encircling the drum and arranged in spaced relation therewith, an outer ring arranged in spaced relation with said first ring, radially arranged rods having their ends mounted in said rings, rollers mounted upon the inner ends of said rods and bearing upon the base plate, a second set of rollers mounted upon the outer ends of said rods, and oppositely disposed track rails between which the second set of rollers are adapted to run.
3. In a device of the character described, the combination of a base plate, a cylindrical drum mounted thereon, means for fastening the drum to the base plate, angular brackets secured to the inner side of the drum at the upper edge thereof, a bearing plate mounted upon said brackets, a bearing pin mounted in said bearing plate, a connecting plate mounted upon said bearing pin, radially arranged T beams having their inner ends secured to said connecting plate, a sectional rim arranged in spaced relation with the connecting plate to which the outer ends of the T beams are secured, a ring encircling said drum and arranged in spaced relation therewith, an outer ring arranged in spaced relation with the first ring, radially arranged rods having their ends mounted in said rings, rollers mounted upon the inner ends of every other one of said rods and bearing on the base plate, a second set of rollers mounted upon the outer ends of said rods, and oppositely disposed track rails be-.

4. In combination with a pit having a raised central portion, of a base plate mounted upon the central portion, means for anchoring said base plate, a cylindrical drum mounted upon the base plate, means for securing said drum to the base plate, angular brackets secured upon the inner side of the drum at the upper edge thereof, a bearing plate mounted upon said brackets, a bearing pin mounted in said bearing plate, a connecting plate mounted upon said bearing pin, a washer mounted upon said pin and arranged between said connecting plate and bearing plate, radially arranged T beams having their inner ends secured to the connecting plate, a sectional rim arranged in spaced relation with the connecting plate and to which the outer ends of said beams are secured, a ring encircling the drum and arranged in spaced relation therewith, an outer ring arranged in spaced relation with the first ring, radially arranged rods having their ends mounted in said rings, rollers mounted upon the inner ends of every other one of said rods, a second set of rollers mounted upon the outer ends of said rods, oppositely disposed track rails between which the second set of rollers is adapted to run, one of said rails being arranged at the bottom of the pit, and the other rail suspended from the lower side of the T beams.
5. In a device of the character described, the combination of abase plate, a cylindrical drum mounted thereon, a connecting plate mounted upon the upper end of said drum, radially arranged T beams having their ends secured to said connecting plate, a sectional rim arranged in spaced relation with the connecting plate to which the outer ends of the T beams are secured, a ring encircling said drum and arranged in spaced relation therewith, an outer ring arranged in' spaced relation with the first ring, radially arranged rods having their ends mounted in said rings, rollers mounted upon the inner ends of said rods and bearing on the base plate, a second set of rollers mounted upon the outer ends of said rods, and oppositely disposed track rails between which the second set of rollers is adapted to run.
6. In combination with a pit having a raised central portion, of a cylinder drum mounted upon the central portion, a connecting plate mounted upon the upper end of said drum, radially arranged T beams having their inner ends secured to the connecting plate, a sectional rim arranged in spaced relation with the connecting plate, and to which the outer ends of said beams are secured, a ring encircling the drum and arranged in spaced relation therewith, an outer ring arranged in spaced relation with the first ring, radially arranged rods having their ends mounted in said rings, rollers mounted upon the inner ends of every other one of said rods, a second set of rollers mounted upon the outer ends of said rods, oppositely disposed track rails between which the second set of rollers is adapted to 40 run, one of said track rails being arranged at the bottom of the pit and the other rail suspended from the lower side of the T beam.
7 In a device of the character described, the combination of a base plate, a cylindrical drum mounted upon said plate, angular brackets having their horizontal portions secured to the base plate and their vertical portions secured to the inner side of the drum, a bearing plate mounted upon the upper end of the drum and a platform frame rotatably mounted upon said bearing plate.
