Description

S. HELLER.
PHOTOGRAPH HOLDER.
APPLIOATION FILED MAII.20.1912.
Patented Oct. 8, 1912.
UNITE sir SIGMU'ND HELLER. OF CHICAGO. ILLINOIS.
PHQTOGRAPH-HOLDER i .oaoeeo.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Oct. 8. 19m.
Application filed March'20, 1912. Serial No. 685.111.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I. h'm'nnrcn HELLER, a
-citizen of the United States. residing at Chicago, in the county of Cook and State of lllinois. have invented a certain new and useful Photograph-lloldcr, of which the following is a description, reference being had to the drawings forming a part of this specification.
My invention has for its object the provision of a pocket or holder for the reception and display of a :)hotogra 'ih or like picture in a set-ting of textile. fabric, which will present a neat and tinishcd appearance and retain its shape and serve its purpose cilicienlly, and which is particularly adapted for the embellislnnent and ornamentation of tlags. banners. pennants, etc., and also for use on pillows, draperies and various other hangings of cloth.
In the drawings Figure 1 is a front view of my novel holder; Fig. 2, a back View; Figs. 3 and 4 front. views of modified forms of the holders, portions of the dill'erent layers of cloth being broken away in the. several figures mentioned to exhibit the relation of the diti'erent parts, and lines of stitching being indicated by dotted lines, and the outline of hidden parts being indicated by broken lines; Fig. 5 is a detail section through the snap button by which the ground A and rear piece 0 are detachably secured together-to close the pocket between the two: and Fig. (3 is a View of a pennant to which my invention is applied.
The same letters of reference apply to all the figures.
The cloth A of the article upon which the holder is formed is cut away to the exact size of the display opening of the holder, and a facing panel of reinforcing cloth B having an opening of the same size is applied to the front thereof, so that the openings will lie in registration, a. line of stitching on around the margin of the opening serving to secure the two plies smoothly and firmly together and preventany unsightly bagging or stretching of the cloth around the margin 01" the field of view of the pho tograph. To the rear side of the ground or body cloth is applied a piece of cloth (7 of proper size, which secured to the cloth at the bottom and both sides by. a line of stitching l). the top being left open so that a pocket is thereby formed for the reception of a photograph. This line of stitching may be the same line I) by which the reinforcing panel 'li is secured to the cloth A but in such case the stitching of course extends only through the parts fl. and 13 along the top line. I-Iowerer, either the part it or the part C may be the larger, in which case a second line of stitching 0 will he used to secure the rear piece C to the ground: as illustrated in Fig. 3 in "which the facing panel B is the larger and the stitching 0 lies inside the stitching 2'); and Fig. 4, in which the part C is the larger and the line of stitching lies outside lhe stitching 7). I
snap button'l) may be :nlvantagcmisly used at the top of the piece to secure it to the ground or body cloth A. though this is not indispensable to a practical ell'lllntllment of my invention. As shown in Fig. i), the button is preferabtv of the kind in which the parts are secured to the plies of fabric by stitching. in order that they may be entirely concealed from notice. If desired a Sheet of transparent celluloid film may be used in the holder to cover and protect the face of the photograph.
I claim:
1. A holder'ior displaying a photogra h or like picture comprising a ground be 5y of textile Fabric cut away to form a display opening, a front display facing or panel having a registering openingand secured to said ground by a line of stitching around its outer edge and a line of stitching around said display opening, and a rear piece or portion forming a pocket secured to said ground by a marginal line of stitching along its bottom and sides.
2. A holder for displaying a photograph or like picture comprising a ground or body of textile fabric cut away to form a display opening. a front display facing or panel having a registering opening and secured to said ground around said opening by a line of stitching, and a rear piece or portion forming a pocket for the reception'of the picture, said front panel andrear piece being secured along their margins to said ground by a line of stitching extending.
through all three of them along the bottom and both sides of ,said panel and extending SIGMUN D HELLER.
