PIPE-MOLD.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, THEODORE J. SCHU- RIGHT, a citizen of the United States, residing at St. Francis, in the county of Chey enne' and State of Kansas, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pipe-Molds, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to molds for molding plastic material into difierent articles and is primarily directed to that type of molds used in the manufacture of pipes or tiles. The invention may be applied to molds for use in the manufacture of other articles without departing from the spirit of the invention as claimed herein.
An object of the present invention is to provide a mold of few parts and means for facilitating the assembling of said parts.
A further object resides in the provision of a suitable means for making an opening or openings in the molded article whereby said article may be used for draining and other useful purposes.
lVith the above and other objects in view, this invention consists of the construction, combination, and arrangement of parts, all as hereinafter more fully described, claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein,

Throughout the following detail description and on the several figures of the drawings, similar parts are referred to by like reference characters.
In carrying out the present invention, a core 1 is used being preferably hollow for the sake of lightness and having an enlarged portion 2 at the base thereof. A base plate or member 3 is provided with annular flanges 4 and 4, said enlarged portion of the core 1 fitting over the annular flange 4 to insure the correct position of said core Specification of Letters Patent.

on the base member 3. The casing 5, composed preferably of sections, is provided with and seated within the annular flange 4 on the base member to insure correct position of said sections.
One of the sections of the casing is pr0- vided with oppositely extending projections 6 to form a hand grip 7 and a suitable mounting means for the locking member 8, the latter being adapted to move partially across the opening 9 formed in said projection 7. The other section of the casing 5 is provided with a similar number of projections 10, each being provided with a re cess 11 and adapted to protrude through the opening 9 in the projection 6 to permit said locking member 8 engaging in the recess 11 for locking the sections of the casing 5 together.
The base member 3 is provided with a plurality of ears 12, each of which is provided with an opening having an enlarged or escape portion through which the head or enlargement of the bolt 13 is inserted. The other terminal of the base locking member 13 is movably secured to the latch or locking member 8 so that when said member 8 is moved to engage in the recess 11 a pull will be exerted upon said member 13 and thereby lock the said base member 3 to the casing and core. As will be noted from Fig. 4, the member 13 is secured to the member 8 at 14 in such a manner that when the locking member 8 is moved to an operative position, the bolt 13 is at a dead center and exerts no pull on said member 8 which will tend to disengage the latter.
From the foregoing, it will be noted that upon locking the sections together by the lower set of locking members 8, the base member 3 will simultaneously be locked to said casing and core thus expediting the assembling of the various parts and making the machine of a more desirable and practical nature.
A pin member 15 is carried by each section of the casing 5 and the pins 15 being preferably arranged diametrically opposite each other and adapted to bear against the core 1. These members 15 are provided to make openings through the molded article to permit the flow of a liquid either into or out of the pipe or tile, as the case may be. The casing 5 is reduced at one terminal thereof to an inside diameter equivalent to the outside diameter of the enlarged terminal of the core disposed at the opposite end of the machine. The reason for this Will be obvious, since it is old to provide a reduced or tongue portion on a molded article to be received by the enlarged terminal of the adjacent article.
Having thus fully described the invention, What is claimed as new is 1. A mold of the class set forth comprising. a core, a casing, means for securing said casing about said core, a base member, and means operable by the aforesaid means for locking said base in an operative position.
2. A mold of the class set forth comprising a base, a plurality of sections mounted on thebase, a handle carried by one section and provided. with an opening therein, a
recessed projection carried by an adjacent section and adapted to protrude through the opening int-he handle, a lock member pivoted in the handle and adapted to move into the recess in the projection for locking the sections together, and a member pivoted at one end to the lock member and detach ably connected. atthe opposite end to the base for retaining the latter in an operative position.
