GLOVE-FORMER. f
I Specification of Letters Patent. Application filed October 30, 1911. Serial No. 857,667.
Patented Sept. 1?, 1912.
To all whom alt may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN K. Knrmooc, a
citizen. of the United States, residing at parts thereof are being manipulated.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a face representation of the former detached from its support and in which the shield is placed over the former. Fig. 2 is a view similar to Fig. 1, but in which the shield has shed the'fingers of the former. Fig. 3 shows the comb laying the fourchettes. Fig. 4 is a face representation of the comb. Fig. 5 is an edge view of the comb. Fig. 6 shows the former and shield supported in the socket. Fig. 7 is a section on line f f Fig. 6. Fig. 8 is a section on line e c Fig. 7. Fig. 9is a section on line 6 e Fig. 7 showing the center portion of the former and shield. Fig. 10 is a section on line a a Fig. 3. Fig. 11 is a section on line b b Fig. 2. Fig. 12 is a section on line 0 c Fig. 1. Fig. 13 ,is a section on line (1 d Fig. 2.
The former has the hand portion 1 and the fingers 4. The shield 2 fits over the hand portion of the former and has open fingers 5. The comb 3 has three teeth 6. The former is provided with a cylindrical proiection 7 having two studs 8 extending radially therefrom. A bracket 9 has a clamping screw 10. From the bracket extends a tubular socket 11 which has an annular recess 12 in its upper portion and has cut-away portions 13. The projection 7 is located in the socket and the studs 8 enter the recess 12 through the cut-away portions 13, and when the projection is turned axially the former is held against removal in connection with the socket. The former is provided with a slot 14 having its ends formed with circular enlargements 15 and 16. A turn button 17 is supported by the shield and is located in the slot 14 in the former. When the shield is in the position shown at Figs. 1 and 8 the turn button is turned in the enlargement 16 transverse to the slot 14, which will lock the shield in connection with the former in order that the fingers of the former and shield. When the shield is moved in connection with the former as shown at Fig. 2, the turn button will be turned in the enlargement 15 transfingers of the glove may be worked over the g verse to the slot 14, which will hold the shield elevated, and the comb 3 can be applied to lay the fourchettes of the glove 18 as shown at Fig. 3 By supporting the former in the bracket, the shield can be moved to shed the glove from the former,
and by making the former removable from the bracket, other sized formers can be held in connection therewith.
I claim as my invention.
1. In apparatus of the character set forth, the combination with a member having spaced fingers, of a glove-holding shield that fits within a glove and detachably fits over the member, said shield having hollow fingers that detachably engage over the fin gers of the member, and a glove-folding comb having teeth that detachably fit between the fingers of the shield when the fingers of said shield are detached from the member by the relative movement of the shield and member.
2. In apparatus of the character set forth, the combination with a member having spaced fingers, of a glove-holding shield that fits within a glove and detachably fits over the member,. said shield having hollow slotted fingers that detachably engage within the fingers of the glove and detachably engage over the fingers of the member, and a glove folding comb having teeth that are wider than the spaces bet-ween the fingers of the shield, said comb detachably engaging in said spaces and in the slots of the fingers of said shield when the same are detached from the member by the relative movement of the shield and member.
3. In apparatus of the character set forth, the combination with a member having fingers, of a glove-holding shield that fits within a glove and detachably engages over the member, said.- shield having hollow fingers that detachably fit over the fingers of the member.
4. In apparatus of the character set forth, the combination with a member having fingers, of a glove-holdingshield that fits with-- in a glove and detachably en ages over the member, said shield having ollow fingers that detachably fit over the fingers of the member, portions of said shield fingers bein 0 en to e ose ortions of the love finge s to the fi gers of the membe located therein. v
5. In apparatus of the character set forth, the combination with a member having fingers, of a glove-holding shield that fits within'a glove and detachably engages over the member, said shield having hollow fingers that detachably fit over the fingers of the member, portions of said shield fingers be-' ing open and portions of the fingers of the member projecting through, said open por- ,tions to engage dlrectly upon the portions of the glove fingers that extend across said open portions.
6. In apparatus of the character set forth, the combination with a member, including a body portion having fingers, of a glove holcling shield that fits within a glove and detachably fits over the member and comprises a'hollow body portion, and hollow fingers that receive the fingers of the member, the outermost shield fingers having their inner; sides slotted and the intermediate fingersf comprising spaced side sections connected at 'j.
their tips and ex osing longitudinal por-v tions of the glove ngers directly to the fingers of the member. j
7. In apparatus of the character set forth,
the combination with a member having fingers, of a glove-holding shield mounted @upon' the member and having hollow fingers that engage over the fingers of the member, 1 said member and shield being relatively I movable to carry the fingers of the two into and out of coacting relation and for lockin them with'the fingers of the member and I shield in and out of associated relation.
8. In apparatus of the character set forth, the combination with a member having fingers, of a glove-holding shield mounted upon the member and having hollow fin-' gers that engage over the fingers of the member, said member and shield being relanesses.
that engage over the fingers of the member,
said member being provided with a longitudinal slot having enlarged ends, and a turn-button rotatably mounted in the shield and having an elongated portion engaged in the slot, said portion when turned to one position permitting the sliding movement of the shield, and when engaged in either of the enlarged ends of the slot and turned to another position, locking the shield against its 1 sliding movement.
l0. In apparatus of the character described, the combination with a support having a socket, and a groove provided with a cut-away entrance portion, of a member having a stem at one end detachably and rotatably engaged in the socket and provided with a stud operating in the groove said member having fingers at its other end, and a hollow glove shield slidably mounted on. the member and having hollow fingers that engage over the fingers of the member.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing wit- JOHN K. KELLOGG.
