FREDERICK A. TYLER, 0F ALBANY, NEW YORK.
BRACKET FOR WATER-TANKS.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed June 26, 1911.
Patented Aug. 27, 1912. Serial No. 635,407.
T 0 all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, F REDERIGK A. TYLER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Albany, in the county of Albany and State of New York, have invented certain new and I useful Improvements in Brackets for Water- Tanks, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to shelves or brackets for expansion tanks, and for range boilers.
The object of my invention is to construct a cheap and simple shelf, or bracket, which may be quickly and readily attached to the side wall to furnish a shelf for the expansion tank, or range boiler, in a building, to rest upon. I accomplish this object by means of a shelf or bracket constructed as shown in the accompanying drawings in which- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the back piece of the bracket and the seat separate from each other. Fig. 2 is a perspective view of my bracket in position. Fig. 3 is a crosssection on lines X-X, Fig. 2.
Similar letters refer to similar parts throughout the several views.
When installing a hot waterheating system in a house it is necessary to have an expansion tank placed above the highest radiators, usually in a small upper room or closet, and for the domestic hot water supply a range boiler is placed in the kitchen of the house. It is very desirable for these purposes to have a shelf, or bracket, which may be quickly and readily attached to the sidewall and which will occupy but little space and be of an attractive appearance and from which the shelf adapted to receive the tank may be removed from the stationary part of the bracket. To accomplish this I construct a bracket with a back-piece A adapted to be attached to the sidewall by screws. This backpiece A has horizontal shelves B, B extending at right angles from the back-piece and provided with substantial brace portions adapted to sustain the required weight. Above the shelves B, B are the flanges D, D extending somewhat outward fro-m the perpendicular back-piece and downward toward the shelves B, B as shown in Fig. 3.
E designates the seat adapted to sustain the tank. This seat is adapted to rest upon the shelves B, B and is provided with lugs F, F adapted to fit under and be held by the flanges D, D. The flanges D, D extend outward sufiiciently from the back-piece A and downward toward the shelves B, B so as to securely hold the lugs F, F therein and leave the opening small enough so that the lugs F, F could not be inserted or withdrawn from the brackets on the flanges D, D except by raising the seat in a nearly vertical position and in this position inserting the lugs F, F in under the flanges D, D and then turning the seat downward until it rests upon the shelves B, B and in this position is held securely to the back-piece of the bracket and cannot be removed except by again turning the seat E in a vertical or nearly vertical position so as to release the lugs F, F from the brackets on D, D. The seat E is made in the form of a circle with an open center of proper size and construction, to hold the cylindrical. shaped tank thereon so that the bottom of the tank may be free for the insertion of pipes or faucet, as may be needed. The seat E is provided with a horizontal flange H of proper form and size to form a seat for the tank and also vertical flanges I, I on the sides to provide protection for the tank.
Constructed in this way the bracket may be transported in small space, quickly attached to the wall and may be used in small and cramped quarters and is cheap in construction and affords a substantial seat for the tank and allows the lower end of the tank free for pipes as may be desired.
What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is,
A bracket for a water tank consisting of a back-piece adapted to be attached to the sidewall, shelves extending horizontally from said back-piece, hook shaped flanges extending from said back-piece downwardly above said shelves, a seat adapted to sustain a cylindrically shaped tank, flanges extending upwardly from the sides of said seat and lugs upon said seat adapted to hook under said hook-shaped flanges whereby said seat will be held upon said shelves, substanti ally as described for the purposes set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
FREDERICK A. TYLER.
