Be it known that I, JAKoB AUGUST HED- BERG, a subject of the King of Sweden, and resident of Odin latsen 3, Gottenborg, in the Kingdom of weden, have invented oer tain new and useful Improvements in Locklwllzg Devices for the Controlling-Cords of indow-Blinds, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad therein to the accompanying drawing.

This invention relates to locking devices for the controlling cords of window blinds of that class, which consist of a roller cooperating with an arm having an ecentric part, between which roller and eccentric part the said cords are jammed. Such locking devices have the disadvantage ofthe cords being jammed so forcibly owing to the weight of the blind, that they often can be loosened only with diiiiculty'.

The object of this invention is to remove the said disadvantage, which is efi'ected by the roller being journaled in slots provided in the side plates of the locking device, so that the roller can be moved in the said slots by the cords during the loosening operation, the said operation being thereby facilitated.

In the accompanying drawing Figure 1 i a side view and Fig, 2 an edge view of a locking device arranged in accordance with this invention.

The locking device is mounted on the top lath A of the blind. 1 is the arm pivoted to the side; plates 3, A of theframe of the locking device and acted upon by a spring 5. The said arm has a toothed eccentric part 6, by means of which the controlling cords 7, 8, passing through guide lugs or rings 9, 10, are jammed against the roller 11. The pivots 12 of the said roller 11 are journaled in slots 13, provided in the side plates 3 and 4. When the blind is lowered, entirely or partially, and one desires to raise the same, it is necessary only to pull on the ends of the cords 7, 8, at the right. As the blind is to be lowered, the cords 7, 8 are retained manually in order to prevent the blind from falling down too quickly, while simultaneously a pull upon the cord 14 fixed to the arm 1, is efiected, so that the eccentric '6 is swung upward. The straining of the cords 7, 8, moves the roller 11 into the position indicated by dotted lines in Fig. 1. The position of the slots 13 is such, that the distance between the eccentric 6 and roller 11 is somewhat increased during the said movement of the roller 11, the loosening operation being thus. facilitated. As the eccentric 6 has been brought out of engagement with the cords 7, 8, the roller 11 returns to its position shown in full lines, and as the cord 14 is then released the locking device is again ready to operate.

Having now described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Let ters Patent is:

In a cord clamp, in combination, a frame consisting of two vertical parallel walls rigidly connected, an' arm pivot-ally supported between said walls and provided with an eccentric clamping portion adapted to swing downward into clamping position, said walls having inclined slots, and a roller between said walls having an axle slidably journaled in the 'slots, the eccentric portion being adapted to clamp a cord against the roller when the latter is at the lower end of the slots, and means to guide the cord so that a pull on the cord in one direction will tend to niiove the. roller upwardly and release the cor In witness whereof, I have hereunto signed my name in the presence of two subscriblng witnesses.
